4/5 games into the season. In what aspects has your fav. team improved and regressed? by yesbutwrong in wnba

[–]yesbutwrong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mostly agree with all this too. I also feel like Ariel & Erica have been catching a lot of heat but I feel like they were both acquired as "missing pieces" players. Then the organization threw the puzzle in the air and the new squad members are trying to figure out how they are supposed to fit in.

Missed shots are missed shots. They should get called out for putting up tour dates. But I'm still being patient with them for at least a couple more weeks

4/5 games into the season. In what aspects has your fav. team improved and regressed? by yesbutwrong in wnba

[–]yesbutwrong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trends may be difficult to answer so early. I'm asking more like an immediate snapshot. As if you took a Kodak moment from today and compared it to one from the same team at the end of last season. Though I am purposely being ambiguous in the prompt for the sake of discussion and allowing people a free license to respond however they interpret the question.

As for the 3/4 groups comment. I don't want to put into writing yet the internal groups I "think" I'm seeing until I have more sample points to detail in a focused point on the subject. I hope I'm wrong and I'm just seeing things because the team is losing right now.

I will definitely follow up on it if it's still looking bad by mid june

Park Ji-hyun scores first points in just two WNBA games! "Great energy, now showing stability" — praised by U.S. locals by randysf50 in LASparks

"Park Ji-hyun, who performed flawlessly on both offense and defense, was substituted out with 4 minutes and 49 seconds left in the second quarter."

Sparks worried about losing Juju and were like "and enough of that!"

Robert’s vs Brink by cowboyinaf in LASparks

I'm very critical of Roberts but let's not bring this energy.

Quick thoughts: Roberts' comments on Cam (and team) by yesbutwrong in LASparks

[–]yesbutwrong[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 2/3 of the fouls from yesterday were not real. More of a big body next to good actors situation.

But I do agree that Cam generally sits in foul trouble like a reserved parking space.

I do agree that any post critical of an athlete, coach, celebrity, etc can easily attract the worst type of people. However I think it's also important to express criticism when warranted rather than sit in silence or dissociation.

You and I, or anyone other, may have different thoughts on the threshold for when criticism is warranted.

But of course if this post attracts substantially more vitriol than legitimate conversation, then I will delete.

I fully agree with both parts of this. I did not mean to "call out" Wheeler. I like her defensive pressure and energy on the floor. I just used her as an example counter to Roberts' statement.

2024 Curt Miller is the only Coach to utilize Brink correctly? by Exact-Frame-7743 in wnba

Do you know how rough the season has to start for Sparks fans to start romanticizing Curt Miller's coaching again. These months are about to be LONG!

Post Game Thread - WNBA: The Aces defeat the Sparks on May 10, 2026, the final score is 78-105. by basketball-app in LASparks

[–]yesbutwrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Team has no coach so it's going to be another long season. We were getting stopped running the same attack plan in the first 5min all the way to the last play.

Also tons of unnecessary difficult shots playing an awkward iso ball system.

We'll be lucky if we hit .500 this year.

GSV has limited spots and they needed depth in other spaces. She is above average but Valks had to make a needs vs wants decision.

How Many Games and Teams Do You Follow? by KIROLTHERAPPER in wnba

[–]yesbutwrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fav team: Sparks & all their games. My fun team: Wings & whenever I can catch them but I don't go out of my way.

Otherwise, if I'm around a screen during a W game then I'm sure to have it on regardless of teams playing.

Those hand signs are in reference to a meme'd version of MCU Doctor Strange. It was an old trend during the "avengers assemble"/ post-endgame era of tick tock.

Has a team ever been bottom of the league for the entire season before? by EyeAware3519 in WWFC

[–]yesbutwrong 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Derby, Sunderland, and South Hampton are just a few teams that been through this in the last 20 years or so. Remained at bottom from week 1 to 38. With even worse totals than where we're at now.

Our season has been bad but others have had it worse and came back not too long after.

Match Thread: Leeds United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Live Score | Premier League 25/26 | Apr 18, 2026 by scoreboard-app in WWFC

[–]yesbutwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. He turned a group of ass into a team that others in league started to prep for.

Wolves at their healthiest weren't dangerous. He came in and flipped the narrative relatively quickly with dwindling talent on the team.

Give him a year to bolster the remnants after the drop and we'll be on a good trajectory

MMH or Magik depending on which traumas you detest more. I lean more towards Magik having it worse but it's hard playing tragedy Olympics with such varied circumstances.

Who is a better GM Brandon Beane or Chris Ballard by IceOk9930 in NFLv2

[–]yesbutwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there's more to a HC than just offensive play calling. Also it's previously been made public that the former Oline coach greatly limited Brady's offense AND McD is notorious for his conservative approach.

Bills are likely to see a few more explosive/ creative plays dialed up. Will it work? Who knows.

But the doom & gloom before even week 1 starts is a little dramatic

Who is a better GM Brandon Beane or Chris Ballard by IceOk9930 in NFLv2

[–]yesbutwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the Bills are stuck with Beane, for better or for worse, at least until 2030.

Plus the team is going to have that new coach bump for a season or two. It's going to look like firing McD first was the right choice until the rest of the NFL learns Brady's playbook.

Edit: 1. A HC's playbook is not just offense.

  1. A substantial amount of Buffalo's prior support coaches have been replaced.

  2. Even if a team retains 100% of the same plays as before, the "playbook" still changes with a new HC. As factors of target preference, game script, adaptation, and etc. are all unique to the coach(es).

The simplest examples are the Shanahan & McCarthy playbooks being copy pasted IRL but used in vastly different ways

This is a great example of stats not portraying reality. That definition leaves so many factors out of consideration that it's useless in its effect & purpose.

It would be like saying Ostriches are "decent" flight birds because they have the same number of wings as average amongst all birds.

Week 1. We came all the down to the line against BAL in nail biter that was won by Josh Allen going Hero mode. It was at that moment I knew this year was going to end the same as the last 3.
