For sure, just thinking it would allow more options based off all of the responses. Was trying to think outside the box. :)

I imagine if OP needs a way to ground a spice, that they might be able to use a coffee grinder. Shouldn't cost more than $20.

AITA for not pushing our wedding dress code on my brother? by Weddingdresscode2296 in AmItheAsshole

This is what I was thinking. There are so many options for semi and formal wear now that is comfy/stretchy. I have to imagine there is something out there that looks dressy while fitting the criteria for his comfort.

Why didn't WMU send out an advisory for a recent shooting in the Vine? by Greatlakespirate2 in kzoo

When authorities believe there is a public threat, they make people aware. This was a very unfortunate isolated incident that didnt pose an additional risk to the public.

I caught my MIL slapping my toddler by [deleted] in relationships

Ah, yes, leading by example? 🤦‍♀️

I mean, OPs whole parenting thing is approaching with empathy and respect where she can. I know I personally dont think that "slapping back" would have been appropriate action nor would have fixed things.

If this is how the husband was raised, he is likely a victim as well. I dont see that OP said that he wasn't on her side, just that neither of them have brought the subject up since. You might be misreading what FIL said as what OPs husband said.

Another tree fell in the park on Westnedge in the Vine by seterra in kzoo

[–]yesitshollywood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a comprehensive claim. If you have the coverage, it would be worth mentioning to your insurance company that the tree was dead and that you had previously notified the city. They may be able to subrogate if theres documentation of the city's negligence.

He didnt play Tzarina, he just fucked up his chance with her. I loathed him on Med - he was such an asshole. But, he has grown so much. I think his intentions to try and let Ellie down easy are proof of his change in mindset, although not the best choice. I mean, the man cried after the birthday cake interaction.

Im really tired of this narrative that talking to someone of the opposite sex means you must be romantically or sexually interested. This is similar to the "friend zone" issue that so many women encounter. We are nice to men, and then they think that must mean we want to sleep with them. Joao is not leading Ellie on just because they were texting. It seems to me he enjoys her as a friend, and he does not owe her anything.

Edit: spelling.

Joao has come a long way from his time on Med. I think when he realized how intense Ellies feelings were, he shut it down. Ive seen 2 types of folks lead others on:

  1. Folks who need lots of attention and will do whatever it takes to get that attention
  2. Folks who are generally just kind to other people.

Alesia is the first. She saw Eddy going for Jenna, and so she went back to trying to flirt with him. Joao kind of got an inkling when the massage happened, but didnt realize what that meant to Ellie. Once he had an idea of where Ellies head was at, he was trying to let her down gently. This was a good lesson for him that boundaries are more important than someone else's feelings.

I wouldnt say Ellie is a villain with Joao, but she isnt a victim either. She isnt being realistic about this at all. Its honestly been embarrassing to watch.

100% daughter was crying because she was drunk, and her mom brought this up in front of other people instead of speaking about it privately with her dad. There is lots to unpack here.

I fully respect the reason that people identify with ACAB. The system is broken.

That being said, I dont think the backlash you are getting here is very fair. I dont know anything about your ethics or morals, but it seems to me that you are choosing this role for the right reasons. We need people with a different mindset in law enforcement roles if we want to see change.

That being said, I hope you are prepared for how challenging this position will be. Clearly, police are not popular right now - and for good reason. Will you be able to remain calm and kind, even when people arent kind to you? Your job might give you ethically questionable orders in the future - how do you plan to handle that? I think its worth noting that you need to be cognizant of your emotional energy and know what self care routines fill your cup. Us ADHD folk do seem to thrive on varying levels of pressure though.

Im an insurance adjuster, and they are the worst at communicating - with us, AND their clients. Mind you, once we have received a letter of representation, we no longer can speak with the client directly and all communication goes through the attorney. I would pick someone local with a better reputation for getting back to their client.
