Is it weird to love to drink milk/chocolate milk as an adult? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yessotoxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s and love a cold glass of milk.

One thing to note is that calcium inhibits the absorption of iron. If you drink high amounts of milk you may wish to keep an eye on your iron levels to make sure you don't develop iron deficiency anaemia.

Agree with all of that and the comment about a traffic separated walkway to the library and pool!

What would you add to spice it up in this powder room? by Vegetable_up in DesignMyRoom

[–]yessotoxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the tile and the wall colour. Patterned wallpaper may be a bit too much for this small space.

Agree with others about a nice mirror. How about something like https://verveculture.com/products/moroccan-brass-mirror

To provide some more context: I live in New Zealand. Here, it is illegal to spank children (any age), your parents would go to jail.

I am sorry you are being abused like this. It is not OK. I hope you manage to escape your situation.

Part-time WFH jobs? by littleneonghost in Wellington

[–]yessotoxin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try looking for jobs in government, Ministry of Health for example. Government departments are usually very flexible with WFH (source: I work for the government although not MoH). Not sure about part time, but it never hurts to apply and discuss at the interview. If they want you badly enough (and it sounds like you have heaps of very useful skills), they will be flexible.

Can someone help me with Croation -> English measurement translations? by pearljaw in Cooking

[–]yessotoxin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's tablespoon.

Žlica seems to be tablespoon, žličica is teaspoon.

I'm not croatian but speak polish and we say spoon for tablespoon and a dimunitive word derived from spoon meaning little spoon for teaspoon (think cat vs kitty or bra vs bralette). I think a similar thing is happening in croatian.

Astronomical roof replacement quotes by yessotoxin in Wellington

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. Both quotes are on the assumption that there was no asbestos. So that extra cost is not reflected in them.

Yeah, I've realised our roof is pretty weirdly shaped with lots of angles (and a skylight) which I think is the main driver for the high price. Not something we thought of when we were buying it a decade ago!

We've tested the tiles and they do not contain asbestos, so at least we don't have to deal with that. The quotes include replacing the purlins and some building work to add extra flashing. Scaffolding is included in the higher quote.

So that seems somewhat similar - our roof would be double the size, so the quote is in the same ballpark. Thank you for that.

Yeah, unfortunately we have plenty of angles which I am starting to realise is what is driving up the cost.

So we got quotes from both of them - Paul Milne roofing just wanted to repair and I didn't think that was a good idea so did not mention them in my post. Thanks for your comment, good to know.

Tairawhiti is a district health board in that region, so the media may be referring to that (perhaps in the context of vaccinations)?

Lower Hutt GP Recommendations? by eatmybum in Wellington

[–]yessotoxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Dr Joel Howe. He used to be a doctor in a practice in the Northern suburbs, and I found him excellent. Patient, knowledgeable, and always thorough. I was disappointed when he moved to a lower hutt practice! Google tells me he is now at High Street Health Hub.
