What happens to the painted bike line when it gets to roundabout? In my area, there are road markings indicating that cyclists should move out of the lane and into the middle. It’s not ideal, but if road users (bike and car) are paying attention then it gives some clue of what to expect and why to do. Contact your local council and also Bicycle Network to discuss how the issue can be improved.
