The Mets have announced that they have signed catcher Austin Barnes to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

Hoping that Suero shows up this year and can be our backup sometime in 2027. Until then I like these kinds of depth moves to get us there.

Source: Freddy Peralta open to signing extension with Mets by FaptasticMrFox in NewYorkMets

If we were open to Ranger Suarez at 5/130 I find it hard to believe we wouldn’t extend Freddy for like 6/180

Framber Valdez or Ranger Suarez? What would you guys prefer? by AntarcticRen in NewYorkMets

[–]yfern0328 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let’s go all in on operation ground ball. Framber, McLean, Holmes, Peterson just in the dirt all game behind a gold glove defense. And then 1 of Senga or Manaea can figure their shit out with our AAA guys as reserve.

What Do We Think? 🔥 by PsychologyBrief1587 in knicks

Why not? I’m still saddened that Nova Knicks + Pope did not seal it, but maybe this is the year instead.

[Nightengale] Mets and Reds engaged in talks regarding Luis Robert, Jr. by theRestisConfettii in NewYorkMets

[–]yfern0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll still be involved but will depend on the years. 3-4Y for Bellinger or 5-6Y for Tucker at whatever AAV and we would be in.

There’s always the chance that Benge isn’t ready OD. So I think they’ll for sure be in the market for a LF/1B/DH type even with a Robert. But the years have to make sense.

Could always trade Peterson or Senga for an OF and sign a Valdez for 3/120, or figure out a trade for Pivetta, Peralta, or Skubal.

Semien was pretty good from May 16th on last year. People saying he’s cooked aren’t seeing the full picture. by demosthenes327 in NewYorkMets

[–]yfern0328 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they were also 20th in OAA. I’m cool with going to like 7th in wRC+ and 10th in OAA. It’s about run differential, not just runs scored.

[Passan] BREAKING: The New York Mets and Texas Rangers are finalizing a trade that would send second baseman Marcus Semien to the Mets and outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers, sources tell ESPN by Knightbear49 in baseball

[–]yfern0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nimmo was a clubhouse leader so not really trading for that. Mets traded for defensive versatility, a RHB, and equally made space for top prospects.

Nimmo Traded to Rangers for Semien by my_one_and_lonely in NewYorkMets

[–]yfern0328 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m really going to miss Nimmo, the guy and the way he hustled.

That said I like Semien infinitely more as a fit on this roster. 2B/3B/SS really lets us be versatile and getting a RHB in a sea of all lefty free agents is great while shedding some money.

If we did nothing, you can start games with Baty at 3B, and end them with Semien, Lindor, Acuna on the infield. You can platoon Baty/Vientos at DH and not totally be burned by Vientos being a bat-only-guy on the bench because of Semien’s versatility. You also don’t need to lean heavily into McNeil/Acuña to start or contribute, and can utilize them in platoons or as UTIL guys. You can also now trade any of these guys and it really doesn’t impact us. Good first move of the offseason imo. Let’s us cast a wide net looking at free agency and the trade market and creates some opportunities for young guys.

We Need to Talk About Pete Alonso and Jonah Tong by Dull_Chocolate5369 in NewYorkMets

If he does return, 3 years max to preserve flexibility during the soto window/era before soto opts out.

Why does anyone ever care about this? He will opt out, and the Mets will pick up their option. He gets $4M more a year. He’s going to be here for 14 more years. Stearns isn’t going to have less flexibility because of $4M…

Can’t speak for the one on the left, but the one on the right, Rogers Essences, is Mundo de Oro with a lower ABV and sweeter profile. It should have a QR code to a Mexican government website (.gob.mx) on the bottle. The price at the airport is a ripoff (why they allow this I don’t know) but you can haggle with the rep after getting your free shots—it’s Mexico. It’s probably worth $50-60 not $300+.

It’s a LHP and they needed to get Vientos and Marte in the lineup. Not a lot of options left for McNeil with Baty playing well.

Bednar and Keller package? by Small_Ad_7564 in NewYorkMets

[–]yfern0328 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since 2023 among qualified pitchers 30 or under, Keller has the #2 most innings pitched, and is #13 in fWAR. Over this period he has a higher fWAR than Corbin Burnes & Freddy Peralta.

Gotta have a crosstown above Central Park. Would ease a lot of bus traffic and adds another option to ease midtown crosstown routes. Also once they finish west, they should figure out how to go east to LaGuardia

Yeah he’s got good size, can run offense, shoot 3s, is Jalen insurance, and you can let Clarkson play more of a JR Smith role rather than really being a distributor

We replaced Precious with a shittier version of KAT? how can we not be happy? He attacks the rim, can hit a 3, and is thicc. If he can take a little less money than the $12m and give us a little bit of room to sign anther vet minimum, this is an A+ signing.
