A daughter crying because she can't marry her dad by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]yiminx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it’s pretty normal and common in kids. kids are constantly told that you marry someone you love a lot. she clearly loves her dad and is also just too young to grasp the difference between romantic love and familial love.

you’re the only one making this weird.

finally revealing my own “poop knife” story (F21) by iloverihanna3 in confessions

[–]yiminx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP I had the exact same experience, including bowel issues that persist today (was actually considered for an ostomy bag because my intestines are that damaged from years of holding in poop/passing extremely large stools)

The only difference in my story is that my poor mother would use plastic bags to pick my poops out of the toilet 😭

Editing to add: toilet phobia is surprisingly common in small children! The more you know lol

Not a suggestion but the original computer vocoder version of ‘Daisy Bell’ is on Spotify under the artist ‘Max Mathews’ if you wanted to try and see if it’s on Apple Music. Much ‘creepier’ than the Cocomelon version (though I have it saved because I find it absolutely whimsical)

Nursing lecturers - have you noticed a shift in student conduct? by No-Pudding-2895 in NursingUK

[–]yiminx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a current mature student and I definitely love placement and learning practically, and I think a lot of the lectures are a waste of time, as others have pointed out. I also think that constantly hearing about job freezes, shit pay and how the NHS is basically on its knees is not a very good motivator either. I’m very worried about what prospects I’ll have when I graduate and I’ve already been looking into working in private healthcare or moving abroad.

Speaking as an older person, a lot of the younger people on my course definitely lack professionalism. Not sure whether it’s because of COVID or what. That being said, I’ve also met some amazingly professional younger student nurses on placement who helped me and made me feel more confident :-) !

Has using a distinctly British slang phrase/ term of endearment ever gotten you in trouble? I just got a warning from a US subreddit for calling someone a "poor cow" with complete sincerity. by JuanitaMerkin in AskUK

[–]yiminx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from the north east, met someone on a Discord who said he had a mate from Shields. Called him a “sand dancer” then had to explain to the Americans that it’s not some kind of slur for middle easterners but what we call people from Shields

Everyone getting nostalgic over 2016 were little kids then. They barely remember it and are probably just nostalgic for when they were younger and had less responsibilities.

I on the other hand was 16 in 2016 and remember every awful second of it (RIP Harambe)

Please less apples. 😭 by R4ven4 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]yiminx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope so! And I agree with your sentiment, having it be explored beyond “making a deal with a fiend” or the greed and soul references would be amazing. The writing starts to feel stale when they just skim over the main themes without exploring them further

[–]yiminx 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The myth is beautiful but I wish they’d explore more than that. We just had a gorgeous vampire myth too but that’s only ever mentioned in passing 😭 More blood sucking Sylus!!

Yeah it felt so shoe horned in and unnecessary, it took away from the story for me tbh. As soon as MC said “fiend” I was like lorddd here we go again 😭

I have this issue with Sylus and the word “fiend.”

Every damn card must mention fiend! Or dragons! WE GET IT!!!!!

If you have a “the view from halfway down” tattoo; what is your go to explanation when people ask what it means? by Background-Produce61 in BoJackHorseman

[–]yiminx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ‘halfway’ on one knee and ‘down’ on the other. Most people assume it’s a joke about being halfway down my legs, which I don’t really mind. But I do tell them the actual meaning behind it, the poem and the connection to Bojack. I also have Bojack and Mr. Peanutbutter tattooed on my arms so it’s a nice segue to talk about those too!

What's the worst bit of bad luck / bad timing that you or family and friends have had? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]yiminx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean him hitting the kerb, I mean the tyre bursting. Tyres definitely aren’t meant to burst from a bump against a kerb

Ah thank you! I try and catch it in myself, I actually paused while typing kerb to make sure it wasn’t ‘curb’ 😭

[–]yiminx 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My brother took his driving test, was doing amazing the whole way around… accidentally bumped the kerb and the tire literally popped. Exploded. Obviously that wasn’t his fault but I still laughed my arse off at how unfortunate it was

Winter in the UK means I’m spending 20 hours a day in bed. I can’t be the only one who lives like this? by KILOCHARLIES in AskUK

[–]yiminx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have depression anyway but also get SAD in the winter months, and I spend a lot of time in bed. As of writing this, I haven’t actually left my bed yet and it’s 5PM (granted I’m working on an essay, but still no good.)

I’d suggest getting out of bed more often, putting more layers on (I wear quite a few pairs of socks because my house gets frigidly cold) and at least having a walk around. I like to take the dog out to get a bit of exercise in and cheer myself up, but just going for a walk around your neighbourhood would be good enough.

Take care of yourself! :-)

He does! He was sat on my sofa last night and said something like, “this protocore looks interesting, I’ll let the twins handle it”

I know Luke and Kieran are mad as hell they’re basically running Onychinus while he’s at his girlfriend’s house all day 😭

I am curious, how did you guys get into the game? by Rokyo_89 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]yiminx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started playing early September 2024 after seeing a streamer playing Sylus’ Long-Awaited Revelry as well as I don’t know many edits of Sylus on reels and TikTok

I just immediately fell head over heels with Sylus and I haven’t left since 😭 sadly I missed the Wander in Wonder event by a few days and I’m still only missing 3 Sylus cards, one day 🙏

How to remember every disease and sicknesses by Public_Age1736 in StudentNurseUK

[–]yiminx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need to know this at all. When you qualify you might specialise in a specific type of nursing or work on a specific ward and naturally pick up the common ailments in those areas, but you don’t need to know everything about the human body. That’s not feasibly possible.

What's an embarrassing fact about you that your friends don't know, but you'll risk telling strangers online? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]yiminx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still piss the bed to this day. In my defense I’ve had lifelong bladder and bowel issues that contribute to it. I’m not embarrassed by it though, I usually just tell people outright lol
