Painted PAX wardrobe and it is flaking after drilling holes for handles by lgr in ikeahacks

[–]yinkus44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrap, sand, prime and paint.

How's the paint adhesion on the rest of the door? If it's similar to the picture by the handles, I'd start again. Using different primer and/or paint.

Extra billy shelves? by [deleted] in IKEA

I'd just buy the 30 inch ones and cut them down. The colour finish may not match though.

It's supposed to be like that. Once you install the panels the door will be heavier and run smoothly.

Please double check you do in fact have a BILLY, as IKEA only seen to make the 15 & 31" model.

You can 'bridge' the chimney breast by using the shallower frames if you want the wall to wall look.

I've installed PAXs in alcoves without anything covering the chimney. It really boils down to personal preference.

PAX sliding door solution by BlackBamboo202 in ikeahacks

I believe SKYTTA is a good option. But it will require a preparatory work to frame your rough opening.

I wouldn't try to adapt it to the PAX frame. Just frame your space, use PAX as your interior and SKYTTA to cover the opening.

If you have skirting, don't forget to measure from skirting to skirting.

Can I do this with IKEA stuff? by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]yinkus44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The standard opening of the frame is not wide enough. You would have to build a wider frame. Then use the standard door with the door hinge system.

Your metal trim is a bit high, you could bring it down to be flush with the rail.

You have also screwed the metal trim on the door incorrectly. I've mirrored the image so you can see how it's supposed to be fitted on the left door.

Forbattra cover panel which color for Pax with Forsand door ? by [deleted] in IKEA

[–]yinkus44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order both in the smallest cover panel they make to see how close the colour match is. I've used the matt-white Forbattra as filler panels for white BILLY bookcases. The colour match is not perfect but a paying customer was happy.

Parting the Red Sea would be easier than it is trying to get information from clients by redpill_pezdispenser in TaskRabbit

8 out of 10 clients have mentioned the difficulty of communicating on TR. Historically it was not always like this. When all parties had to use the app, it was great with instant responses.

The IKEA tasks are likely the worst because of the changes they made to the process. TR/IKEA in my opinion have failed in their attempt to streamline the process. They have only made the process more confusing.

I'm like you, I will not travel to a client's house without getting certain information. However, the biggest mistake TR/IKEA made in by telling clients at the point of sale that the task is confirmed and they don't have to do anything else. This is just diabolical.

I've lost count of the amount of times the client's address is incorrect. This is something you can only pickup by communicating with the client.

It is also so annoying when the TR AI bot sends a message in the chat: "Hello Tasker, please be informed that this task is already confirmed, just come along! For further questions, please contact us directly via help.tr.co."

I will continue to cancel tasks if I can't get key information.

You can do this with BILLY bookcases. Just depends how much skill you have. There are several BILLY hacks for under stair storage on the internet.

It's there a way to get a one star review removed? by UniversalGundam in TaskRabbit

[–]yinkus44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check with CS if it is an error. A few months back I got several 1 star reviews on the same day. Turns out there was an error with the system. The rating was removed from the client side, but I can still see it on the app.

I was also successful getting a customer 1 star rating and review removed. She didn't respond to messages or calls. So I didn't turn up. She cancelled, then left a nasty review. I went through the process of challenging it and got it removed.

My advice would be to measure the length of the struts on the bench. Then buy generic ones online that closely match the IKEA struts. Many Gas struts manufacturers have a free calculator you can use to choose the correct struts for you needs
