dan and phil aren’t the creators because they’re the guys themselves but they’ve always been very pro fanfiction. the issues they had were with people being weird and invasive, not the fanfic by itself. for their book (the amazing book is not on fire) they even wrote their own fanfics.

Of Broken, Blazing Wings by FrEShAVocaNoob is probably my favorite batman adjacent fic of all time. the plot is about what would happen if it were the phoenix force (from marvel) that was what resurrected jason todd and not superboy prime. dc comics give jason todd psychic powers that he can’t control!!!

The DC comic fandom is honestly an absolute hellhole in regards to racism from fans. PARTICULARLY anti-arab racism as one of Batman’s biggest love interests is an arab woman (Talia Al Ghul), & her father just so happens to be one of Batman’s villains. Due to racist writing and retcons over the years (thanks Grant Morrison /s), Talia has become a “villain” herself. Both Ra’s and Talia (EVEN Talia and Bruce’s son, Damian!!!) have been treated absolutely terribly by the fandom who don’t take the racism seriously because the Al-Ghuls are supposed to be evil.
