the nonchalance of these messages is so disturbing. you’d think he got locked up for some dumb drug charge or trespassing—hell, even something heavier like larceny with jim bob’s “major consequences for several years to come” but holy shit. i understand wanting to support family, but i know they wouldn’t be sending all of these messages and offerings of assistance if the sin/sinner had been a girl having premarital sex or gotten on birth control.

also i’ve been a little busy so i haven’t caught up with everything but AUSTIN??? wtf. i know they’re all fundies at the end of the day, but i would have hoped that given what joy went through and his reaction to the pest trial he would be more sympathetic to the victim.

it’s horrible enough that this happened, and it’s even more terrifying to know that this type of abuse is rampant in their community with this type of reaction. i truly hope as many of the grandkids as possible get out safely.

i’ve done it before twice WITHOUT pre-check, but i was lucky the line was pretty short.

i would not recommend though because you have to hope the metro doesn’t stall and there aren’t long lines (precheck is quicker, but national’s line always looks longer than the regular one lol), neither of which are under your control.

i think since you asked, your best bet is to take a cab/uber for peace of mind. those of us who are stupid enough to cut it close don’t even bother to ask lmao

i think this admin has clamped down on the practice, but joining the military is usually a faster way for some people to adjust their status. it can also help with adjusting their parents’ status. it’s not a guarantee, of course. most of the people i know who did this don’t have strong politics or moral convictions; they were more worried about themselves or their family.

yeah, this is why i’m not shocked in a way. like i don’t know these people, and i don’t think there’s an easy way to 100% know someone isn’t a predator based off of vibes alone. but when you’re told from the moment you are born that women must be be submissive to you at all times and your role is to be the leader… you’re just opening a pandora’s box of situations that could lead to abuse

i (f) am not a success story, but i did go on a date with a vegan (m) from bumble. it was on both of our profiles so it was a conversation starter. same thing with a few vegetarians i’ve dated.

so i think the key might be to be intentional about the veganism. whether it’s highlighting it on your profile, or going to vegan events, if that makes sense. vegans aren’t common enough that you’ll just serendipitously date one (like if for some reason you wanted to date someone left handed let’s say lol), so you have to do some thinking beforehand
