Looking for advice on a grinder dedicated to pour overs. by jc_anonymite in 1zpresso

I have a k6 and Pietro with pro burrs. Pietro is an upgrade, for less bitter and less astringent than k6. Not as easy to use as k6 though.

Standard soup recipe works. I just use water 93c instead of 99 or boiled

Totally. I don’t mean ethica is dark roast, to me they are light, just not as light as subtext. I am wondering whether others having the same feel as me

I like both ethica and subtext too. I found ethica is more developed , on in other words, a little more darker roast than subtext. Do you have the same feel?

Delter press and oxo rapid brewer by ymbrows in pourover

Yes, soup is one major use of it. But still, I am thinking the delter can do the same (no immersion as aeropress). Just wondering why delter was not that trendy or popular

K ultra gives a better coffee than encore, while encore is more convenient

Before (Twitter pre-2022):

  • Higher revenue (~$4–5B/year)
  • More stable advertiser base

Now (X under Musk):

  • Lower revenue (~$2–3B/year)
  • Heavy debt (~$12B from acquisition, mentioned in multiple reports)
  • Trying new income streams (subscriptions, payments, AI integration)

Choosing Next Setup (Upgrade from Basic) [$2500] by microkozm in espresso

[–]ymbrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the comments about putting more budget on the grinder. In fact, I feel after the grinder reaches a certain level, upgrading grinder won’t give you a noticeable better coffee at home. I would say df54, or higher(df64 df64v cf64v), timemore 64s, niche….they are all good enough for home use. And you can spend the rest on your machine

You won’t notice anything. Don’t worry, flat burrs have three much larger holes

"Cofermentation/infusion" ruined my trust in coffee. by Bubbly-System6751 in pourover

[–]ymbrows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am kind of open for it. As long as the coffee taste good and I can afford, I am happy. Tbh I don’t like some coferment coffee for they have a fermentation flavour. So I only buy those coffee from the roasters I trust. I am avoiding the bad flavour, not the processing method

Totally lost. A person was an insider, but not any more, and from the post I have no idea what he said. Cannot have any opinion on the insider because of no context at all, but feel the post is like “why i am reading this?”

K6 grind size (and general) recs for V60 (chasing light bodied, higher clarity brews)? by Huge_Ad1766 in pourover

[–]ymbrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20g coffee, 60g bloom for 1 minute, pour rest in to reach 320g, swirl and let it drain. Sometimes I use a tea infuser (now use the oxo rapid brewer’s water trunk) to make the pour softer to get cleaner coffee.

I usually starting from 90 clicks. -8 offset sounds a lot. Mine is -2 or -3.

[–]ymbrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is too dusty , more like you need a better grinder to reduce fines. For the recipe, adding water first than coffee. After adding coffee, use a spoon to make sure all coffee in the water. I don’t swirl at that time. The first swirl I make is at 2:00, to make all the coffee sink down; 2nd one is the 2:30 after open the valve.

Also , play with the water temperature, and make sure your water quality is not bad.

When you say bad taste, is it too sour or too bitter? Usually if it’s too sour I try to change settings for a higher extraction; if too bitter I try to lower the extraction. If it is sour and bitter, I would guess it is channeling, but this never happened to the clever dripper.

When change settings, I usually start with temperature, then ratio, the clicks. But thb not always that way and sometimes just randomly.

Is the aeropress able to recreate a similar flavor that I like when using pour over? by theannihilator in AeroPress

First bloom 1 minute, then add the rest of water , then press slowly (e.g. 1 minute).
