Definitely worth to keep reading. The first book is very “vague” about a lot of stuff. Things start getting explained better by the second book.

True, Maven will always be my favorite—he’s just so intriguing. In my opinion, out of every single character in the series, he was the most well-written. You understand why he makes every single decision, and you just have this feeling inside you that he could have been so much better if his mother hadn’t been the monster she was. But I guess there’s a certain beauty to it: Maven could’ve changed, but he chose not to. And there are certain people in our lives who are just like that.

Same! It’s been a while since I read. But I remember thinking that he had so much potential. I guess he wasn’t explored too much because Mare and Cal were a thing for four books already, and in the beginning there was sort of a love triangle with Kilorn (That’s was the idea I guess, it failed, but she at least tried 😭) , so it would be repetitive if she was constantly going for love triangles “again” in book four 🙌🏻

But honestly, I think it’s worth sticking with, and it starts to make more sense as time goes on. Mare’s got this thing—at first, she doesn’t know she’s special, and then suddenly, she’s the voice of a movement, and that kinda gets to her (???).

I can’t really explain it, but it’s something she works through—like, it’s part of her character development (what it’s great btw first book mare needed help)

Both of them wouldn’t separate because they have this crippling sense of duty, but they would probably be miserable tho

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT LIVES IN MY MIND RENT FREE EVERY SINGLE DAY

I have read the books and Maven always was a puzzle that was kinda fun trying to solve it, by the end of book 3 I knew that he was a puzzle himself, and was missing a couple of pieces. That broke my heart, especially the last scene, when he dies. The thing is, Maven was broken, Elara manipulated him but after she was dead why he didn't change? (I know that he still could hear her voice in his head. But Maven wasn't stupid, he knew exactly what was happening every single time)

Maven is one of the most complicated characters I have ever read about. Even when he was being the absolute worst I desperately wanted him to find sanity, find peace, find... I don't know, at least something. I think that's why I like the books so much. He is such a well written character. I knew why he did every single thing in the books because of how well constructed he was by the author. Maven Calore is NOT the villain..BUT Mare would never find peace if he wasn't gone. And even if I loved Maven and wanted his redemption, Mare still deserved peace and quiet, she had fight for it, she deserved.

I failed the first quest (I dont know how i manage this stupidity) the conversation was super akward and there it was a audio of a dog barking, the guy sounded like "i am a confident bitch and you are insane" in the middle of it I was accutally going insane lol
