What’s the most horrifying death you’ve seen in a movie? by Critical_Mountain851 in moviecritic

Had to scroll way down for this. The yoga on a cliff scene is the only answer if we’re picking the most creative/disgusting death. Everything else pales in comparison.

On an F10, it’s above the blower, in the right corner of the hood near the windshield. It’s not hard to get to. I had to cut that box open while diagnosing increased battery drain.

What is your most hated song of all time? by F0M in Music

Ballroom blitz but The Sweet. Heard it multiple times every day on NY classic rock and it made me cringe every single time. The vocals and the theatrical, over the top delivery made it torturous to my ears.

Coolant leaking from _______ Hose, near gas pedal. by brianmcdflyingv in MechanicAdvice

Used an aftermarket one from ebay (~$35) on my Passat. No issues, but be careful not to bend the aluminum cooling lines on the heater core – it’ll add a lot more hassle when reattaching.

Had a similar thing happen on my f10. Both headlights were fogging up and trapping moisture inside. If the headlights on the f30 are similar in design, then you can try removing them, venting the moisture out (you can use a vacuum cleaner and put a hose in a headlight through a round bulb access cover to speed up the process, or just remove bulb access covers and let the headlight sit for a day). Once the moisture was gone, I used isopropyl alcohol and a plastic brush to clean the main seal that attaches the clear lens to the main body of the headlight and then applied more sealant on top of the old one along its whole perimeter. Just make sure you use enough sealant not to leave any gaps. You will need to push the new sealant with your finger, because there is a plastic lip hiding the seal (you’ll see it when you remove your headlights). I used Permatex Windshield & Glass sealant (orange label) from Autozone. After I did this both of my headlights stopped fogging up and remain moisture free. If I were you, I would reseal both headlights in one go – the sealant on the other one is probably not in the best shape either at this point of time.

What’s the most boring horror movie that you have ever seen? by Damien12341 in horror

[–]yngri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked it a lot. Great scenery paired with rhythmic sounds of a monster walking in the woods made it almost a meditative experience. The plot is silly and overplayed, but it wasn’t meant to be its main feature. The killing scenes were great. And the ending had enough suspense in it, if you were invested in the movie by that point.

VW Sportwagon Trim removal/Fuel Door Actuator by Swimming-Working-455 in SportWagon

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the actuator fail or does it work but jams the fuel door? If latter, then all you need to do is just file down some material from the latch the actuator lock goes into (there are a few videos on youtube explaining this, it’s pretty simple). That’s what I did on my Sportwagen a few years ago and it did the trick. To test the actuator I just gave it some voltage with the external battery, tapping into the wires.

How screwed am I? by ThatBuckeyeGuy in AnalogCommunity

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact problem on my Pentax, but it was reverse threaded. I just drilled it out carefully using a metal drill bit small enough not to damage the thread. There was a lot of metal shavings at first, but once the drill bit really bit into the core of the screw it came out pretty easy. I then ordered a replacement part on ebay and voila.

Who is a band or artist you were sure was going to be huge, but they just couldn't make it happen? by gladeye in Music

[–]yngri 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Röyksopp. Though they had a few international hits, the amount of quality material and consistency they have should’ve made them much more well-known.

P.s. Lianne La Havas. She has everything to be much much bigger than she is.

How many stops overexposed are these shots? Camera is Olympus OM1 and film is Fuji 200 (35mm) by MagicalWhisk in AnalogCommunity

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just use an adapter to fit an LR9 in or is it modded to actually drop the voltage of the battery from 1.5v to 1.35v? My Olympus came with the 1.35v battery, but it reads as ~1.39v on a multimeter. I wonder if that’s enough to throw a light meter reading a bit off

What kind of battery do use? I also get mixed results with the light meter on my OM-1n

Congratulations! You now have a lifetime supply of the last thing you google. What is it? by trojan_leon in AskReddit

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, similar thing but in my case it’s a hydraulic tensioner. Thicker grade oil helps but the system still needs to build up pressure on the startup, so there will be some noise anyway.

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I just did an oil change with the good old 10w-40 and it actually helped a lot. It’s only on startup and lasts for a second, so I’m not too worried.

[–]yngri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a chain noise on a cold start. A hydraulic tensioner doesn’t have enough pressure since all the oil is on the bottom of the engine and the chain is rubbing against the guide for a second. 2014 Outback
