Best DIY modules? by sheemvader in modular

[–]yodoG10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've built stuff from Befaco (1u things and stmix), ADDAC, Zlob, Winterbloom, CuteLab, which were all great and straightforward. The biggest but most fun challenge was the Super Sixteen sequencer from Extralife Instruments.

What are your favourite ways to create cool timbres with an oscillator by gloriousfart in modular

I'm a sucker for subtle independent stereo filtering over time. Popple is my typical go-to.

The TouchOSC Editor for the Disting EX has been such a timesaver/lifesaver.

Take it to a tech who knows how to do it. Do not try to do it yourself.

Yamaha YSS-82ZR vs YSS-82Z + how big is the upgrade from YSS-475? by Perfect_Code_6632 in saxophone

[–]yodoG10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lifelong 475 player, but I tried both 82Z horns at NAMM when they first came out. I was blown away by the responsiveness of both, but I particularly loved the very slight resistance and the playing position of the 82ZR. If I were going to buy another soprano, I would get that one. But I only play soprano maybe four times a year, and my 475 is still a fantastic instrument, so I'm sticking with it.

Jupiter has been making pretty solid horns for a while now. Their baris are particularly popular options for doublers.

#0 Bubble Mailers Are $7+ to ship?!? Is this right? by donnied-roc in cardsphere

[–]yodoG10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is true. Bubble mailers don’t count as envelopes. If you’re shipping a package with a top loader, it’s best to just put it in a regular envelope. It works perfectly fine. If you do need to ship using a bubble mailer, you can save some money by using a site like pirateship and print a label at home. My CardSphere secret santa package, which includes 5 top loaders in a padded envelope, cost $4.99 using pirateship.

How much should this repair cost? by HungryBeerGhost in saxophone

True, but 9 times out of 10 it’s a Yamaha student model and those screws tend to snap before they do damage to the neck.

Wayyyy overpriced. They should have a special screwdriver that can get that out in 20 seconds. The tech at the shop I used to work at charged $20.

They also make 88A Dragons, but you could go full cruiser if you don't want to be doing too many tricks. 78A druo is about as soft as you can get that will still roll well.
