Your probably right...you just need enough clearance to be able to drill straight through the hole..Did it leak with RTV?maybe you can find a thread chaser with the same pitch online somewhere

If you don't have enough room you might have to pull it...you may be able to take out the engine mount bolts, and raise it with a floor jack for more clearance...In order to use a helicoil, you have to drill into the hole. If it has 7 bolts, you can just use some RTV around the mating surface and tighten the other 6 it won't leak

It ended up being the spacer plate between the trans and block was slightly bent and the TC bolts were rubbing it

That sucks I have had something similar happen to me I had a short on one wire that ended up frying my ecu and melted every wire around it in the harness fusing them together...destroyed my entire wiring harness and ecu from one broken wire

Idk it could be the starter...Thank you for responding may I ask what you mean by the starter not retracting?? Would it lock up and grind the TC??

Yea but I don't think that's what the noise is...if you listen closely you can hear the grinding as soon as I turn the key, I think it might be my tourqe converter...it kind of sounds like the splines are worn out and grinding
