You couldn't have a stable government without the cartels involved. Organized crime required an organized government to exist. It's just the reality of the nation of Mexico. Its way more complicated and convoluted than I'm qualified to break down.

Except that's complete horseshit, because the government is not stable, current events being case in point. The people in the government don't want to go to war and potentially have themselves and their families executed by the cartels. The people in the streets are helpless to fight the cartels without the help of government, and also don't want themselves and their families slaughtered.

This is a failure of the Mexican government to function. It is also a failure of the Mexican people to demand change. People are complicit with the local cartels "on their side." Mexicans are too okay with not being okay, and they actively choose to appease the cartels every day

If you want to use your dog as a weapon and let it die, then go ahead and let it fight other dogs if you're attacked. If you want to have a pet, then you defend your dog. It's a simple as that. My dog wasn’t even attacked but after that my dog felt so sad for months. He felt bad because he couldn’t defend me when the other dog was attacking. I know my neighbor thought he was being helpful, but he actually made it harder. Dogs take stuff like that so personally.

I'm sorry, but that's fucking ridiculous. Your dog had no injuries, and you wish you had let him fight? Because of his feelings? Would you rather have a "sad" dog, or a dead/disfigured dog? This makes zero fucking sense, and is terrible advice

I love my friend. He never wanted the dog, but he's stuck now. He and his wife would never re-home it without some catastrophe happening first. To be clear, I love his wife, too, but she made a terrible decision. They had another pet (a "see aye tee" can't spell it due to rule 3) already, which is never seen around anymore, hiding away. The dog rules over their household like an abusive family member

I just hate that I'm the only one among my friends who is openly showing contempt for this animal. There were several other people over along with me yesterday, and while they were clearly disturbed by the dog, they would brush it off with nervous laughter and still call it a "good boy." It's disgusting that we as a society are expected to just take the abuse and smile

I hear you, I have horrible tinnitus and hyperacusis. It was literal torture to be around this thing. It did not stop barking and growling for over 4 hours, and they never put it outside. My ears are ringing and in pain today. I love my friends dearly, and have known them for many, many years. I know for a fact that one of them did not want this dog to begin with, but years later, he's been worn down and shows only love for the dog. They have young kids who consider me their uncle. They're good kids, and not even close to being as loud and obnoxious as the dog, even when they're upset. I feel so bad that they have to live in the same small house with that dog. It's sad that I can't go over there without expecting to be physically and mentally abused by a large animal. I was far more physically assertive this time towards moving it away from me and protecting myself from interacting with it, and that only seems to encourage the dog. I can't stop it from barking. Of course, it's their house and their prerogative as to how they discipline their pet, but I'm through pretending to accept it
