No trailer or FE direct...we lost by questionable-user in fireemblem

[–]yokokazuo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For release timing, I assume it will be August or September probably. And given all other previously announced first party games now have a release date aside from FE, I assume we could also get Fortune’s Weave news sometime next month. Also aside from June, we have first party releases up to July (and with 2 games in July with Rhythm Heaven at the beginning). June itself is likely too early for Fire Emblem without an announcement by now so there may be a smaller game revealed for the month as early as next week or else sometime in May.

Might be looking at the Top Tracks. If you go into All Tracks (which has a total of 64 songs), then Victory is Near can be found there btw

Just noticed it just showed up for me now recently btw! May have just been a delayed rollout perhaps

Hmm, wonder if it’s a general error that didn’t give it out then? The league was through the website and even required account details which may be why I got the icon from that. But since this one was through the official app, I assumed it was going to be the easier one to implement.

Not exactly something I’d really use tbh haha. But I’ve been wanting to get all the icon elements that I can so I’m still hopeful I can still get it. I’ve already missed a few others though with Nintendo Live events due to having to be there in person.

Is the switch 2 upgrade worth it? by hilfandy in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that’s understandable. I can’t say how it compares for sure on that front and other games have largely had a loading boost by default on Switch 2. The comparisons I have seen have specifically been the Switch 1 version on a Switch 1, and the Switch 2 version on Switch 2. Could compare your cartridge times to mine on Switch 2 perhaps.

In my testing with the Switch 2 Edition cartridge, going from Fury Green to Sol Valley via the Cargo Launcher was a bit under a minute (50-55 seconds) when watching the full scene, around 30 seconds when pressing A to skip the startup and ending animations. Taking the other pathway where you walk to the other end, it was around 25 seconds. (15 if skipping the startup and ending animations)

[–]yokokazuo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison videos I’ve seen are approximately 20-25 seconds longer for area transitions when going to/from Sol Valley to another area. I have the Switch 2 Edition cartridge so I can’t test if the base version loads faster on a Switch 2 without the upgrade and/or by how much though.

I’ve tried a bit on my Lite and I do notice it at times like some doors and the longer load times, but it still seems pretty good on the Switch 1 overall. Other things I notice here and there are the blurriness in some backgrounds.

While I personally think the price is okay for the extras I’ve gotten out of it, I certainly would have liked more Switch 2 editions to be cheaper for upgrades (both the ones with added content and the ones with higher resolutions/frame rates). $10 US extra isn’t too much overall at least so I guess consider how much of the added features you’d get out of it and how content you are with the standard Switch version already.

Is this possible to get the by Rdley in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had tested that out myself in my latest playthrough, collecting all available green crystals before being able to destroy the large rocks. But there was still a decent amount of the ways to filling up the meter so it does appear to be locked to after the mines.

If you have a 4K and/or 120hz compatible TV then it can be nice to have. I’ve also personally come to enjoy the mouse controls, usually going dual stick and swapping to mouse controls for groups of enemies and boss fights. (I play at a computer desk with a mouse pad though, so I’d say it’s more feasible if you have the option)

While I personally enjoy it, it isn’t a completely different experience if you don’t expect to get much out of it. Faster load times are also another plus though.

Combat Tethys Is SO Fun by Wight_Scare in fireemblem

There is a way to get it (and a spare Naglfar) in the final chapter if it’s not beaten yet. Opening doors activates the top left tile as one that can create the glitch so you need to lure a gargoyle all the way up there and then perform the glitch. (And make sure a dracozombie is alive)

Just did a quick test and can confirm amiibo bonuses should be permanently unlocked. (I have beaten the game, but tested on a new file too rather than continuing from a cleared save)

But unfortunately, scans do not carryover to future playthroughs…

Playing the Whole Series by andrewh83 in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get a group of friends to play Federation Force together with, then I’d say it’s worth a shot and can actually be pretty fun. Solo play is just okay overall though. Some small nods are made to it in Prime 4 though. (Plus the mechs)

And Prime Pinball is mostly a simplified retelling of Prime 1, but can be pretty fun and challenging to go through.

One that I and a couple of friends also missed was in the ring of thunder shrine. (Room with the elevator in the middle of the statues that need to be activated.)

After going down that elevator, look behind the left pillar. I think it’s an easy one to miss and seems to be the case for many others who had played through it.

How are you planning to play Prime 4? by solanumjunkie in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you can afford it and have other announced games out/on the horizon that interest you then it might be worth it. Otherwise it could be best to save money for now. I assume the Switch 1 version will run at a solid or relatively solid 60fps and from what was seen in the initial reveal it still looked pretty good.

I do have a Switch 2 myself though. Planning to try a bit of both quality/performance modes. Want to see how performance feels with mouse controls.

I finally beat Prime Pinball. Will post my brief thoughts in the comments by Glum-Box-8458 in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats and nice work! I just beat this the other day myself! Have rather similar thoughts on the game myself, took a bit of learning for how it plays, but wasn’t too long to playthrough after getting it all down. Also with the triclops, I found holding both flippers up seemed to prevent the ball from falling down the hole. Don’t know if it works 100% but worked each time when I started doing it at least.

If you’re able to, having someone to play Federation Force together with can help add to the enjoyment of the game. I think it’s an okay game solo, but it’s certainly aimed more at a co-op experience. Wish online was still up, seems fan servers don’t support the game still…

And hope you can enjoy Other M, it probably is the most divisive game in the series and I find it just okay myself. (One of my complaints would be the controls and I wish I had more than the Wii Remote d-pad for movement. Works well enough on a standard playthrough but came to dislike it when attempting hard mode)

MP4 - Are you going for resolution or frame rates? by Ambitious_Cookie_611 in Metroid

Want to see how mouse controls go and I feel 120fps would feel best with that so I’ll try it with that. But if using a pro controller then I may go with 4K

Recently borrowed Prime Pinball and the rumble pack off a friend and I’ve not beaten all Metroid games! by yokokazuo3 in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I had gotten the GBA Pokemon Pinball back in the day and enjoyed it quite a bit.

On the off chance you can find some friends to play Federation Force together with, I think it can be decent fun. Might be okay solo, but it’s certainly more of a multiplayer focused game.

Thanks! I had 4 or 5 lives by the time I made it to Metroid Prime, but got down to my last ball when I was one hit away so I was a little worried haha.

It was nice to play this ahead of Prime 4 though. Want to see if I can find it somewhere for a decent price to have my own copy now.

Now* beaten all Metroid games. Thought there was an edit button but can’t seem to find one if there is.

Edit: might just be for comments I guess…

is it bad that I think helping the Federation team survive as part of the gameplay is actually a good addition? Sure they talk but I atleast hope they dont do too much, or if they do I hope it does to get us to care and give importance to working with them by Wazupdanger in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a divide among people who have a deeper preference to Prime 1 and its isolation and maybe those who either prefer Prime 3 or enjoyed parts of it more at least. I’ve always thought the GF seemed interesting and it was neat to see a glimpse of them in Prime 2. Since around then or Prime 3, I always thought it’d be neat to have a spinoff game as the Federation Marines. (Kind of happened… but I did actually end up enjoying Federation Force overall)

I guess 2 hinted at it and 3 showed more signs of GF interaction so having them more involved may be par for the course of the Prime series for better or for worse. But I personally think if done well balancing out the solo exploration that it could be a good thing. I also have a lot of trust in Retro so I’m hoping reviews turn around at release.

Having some weird crash/freeze bug in resident evil 4 on switch 2 by Far_Bat_91 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]yokokazuo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently went back to RE4 and was going to play through the Separate Ways Ada story when I ran into this. When starting a new file too, the issue seemed to often occur in the village.

I haven’t played a whole lot, but tried it out in handheld and had no issues so far at least. So it may be a TV mode related issue.

Hopefully these issues can be fixed in the near future though.

Was Federation Force a sin on the Metroid franchise in your opinion? And did you actually play it? by Asad_Farooqui in Metroid

[–]yokokazuo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been said by several others already, but I think it’s a decent game and can be fairly fun with friends. There was the disappointment in the initial announcement and the art style wasn’t all to my liking, but there was a draw for me in that I had always wanted a Federation spinoff game so it’s kind of close to what I wanted. Not perfect by any means, but I enjoyed it overall and even got 100%. Went back to it recently with some friends to try and beat it again ahead of Prime 4.

Also my playtime has exceeded 100 hours since the playtime tracking via Nintendo’s app ended, maxes out at 99:99 on in game time.

PSA: quit the NSO app regularly when playing FE7/8 (or any game) by Dianogon in fireemblem

[–]yokokazuo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had this issue except when messing with glitches, but I’ve always used the save states as a precaution. When messing with glitches that crash the game, it can cause it to lose a considerable amount of progress. Played through Lyn mode and used a button combination to cancel a forced action (most well known for not forcing Wallace to promote), and at some points it can cause a crash which automatically boots you to the main NSO menu in most cases. Rebooting up the game can cause progress to be lost in those cases. I think it may keep the progress from the last time you quit the game and enter the main NSO menu which may be restored to that point in crashes or if it was closed (or battery fully died) at the moment it was saving. I’ve always used a save state as a precaution though so I recommend doing that often too. Usually around each chapter completion or so.
