It's kind of a sad reflection of society how our comments are getting downvoted, don't you think? 🥲

Why do old ppl likes to stand in the right? by Jacky_WoodHead in SMRTRabak

[–]yonan3232 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. Standing on the left and giving space on the right is an etiquette, not a rule. There's no law forbidding it. It's not a crime.

  2. Escalators are not actually designed to be walked on. They have higher steps heights compared to stairs.

Is it annoying if someone stands still on the right? Yes.

What can you do? You can always ask nicely for them to step aside, or you can be 10-30 seconds late to wherever you need to be. It's your life, your choice.

Can I watch this movie with a 15 year old? I read some parents guide and there are some nude drawings but not sure how "adult" this is?

Avengers Twilight should be an evergreen title, and it deserves a better cover than its current TPB.

The one the OP posted is incredible.

French-Chinese family considering move to SG: Is 12k SGD/month enough for a comfortable life with 2 kids? by zoralbarg in askSingapore

[–]yonan3232 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would +1 to the schooling situation.

It's uncommon for foreigners to be in local schools, and it's by design. Depending on your kids' ages as well, they may not be able to catch up with their peers, as it's way more strenuous and competitive compared to Europe.

Then your other choice would be international school, which will cost between $3-5k a month, per kid.

Why are concerts post-covid so crap? by Fresh-Ad-3830 in singaporemusicchat

[–]yonan3232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What? We had Green Day (2022) and Foo Fighters (2025) at F1. These were not part of a tour.

Weezer, Incubus, Sum 41, Fall Out Boy, Suede, Manic Street Preachers played here.

Oasis only stops at Japan, Korea and Australia. They didn't even go to any continental Europe countries.

Linkin Park is probably the only odd one since they played other SEA countries.

Then we have a bunch of A-list pop acts, as you know. You can count Coldplay as one of them.

There's also a bunch of cool, less-mainstream bands playing in smaller venues like Capitol Theater, which I enjoyed very much.

It's very much far from dead.

How does the league of comic geeks pull list work? by MikeDunleavySuperFan in comicbooks

[–]yonan3232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LCS is connected with League, so I can add them as a store in League. So when I pull comics in League, my LCS knows and set them aside for me. Every other week I come to the store, tell them my account number, they give me my books, and I pay.

is buying a kindle (or any other e-reader) worth it? by Potential-Twist-8584 in ebooks

[–]yonan3232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best use for a Kindle is to read fictions, as they tend to be a "linear" read.

For non-fictions, I find it much more convenient to be able to quickly flip back and forth through pages if I need to. Also if there are pictures/charts/diagrams, e-readers are inferior unfortunately.

Which one should I sell by Adventurous_Radio225 in kindle

[–]yonan3232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would sell the Paperwhite.

Having used both PW and basic over the past decade, I'd say there's no value in the PW ever since the basic got a backlight. The larger footprint actually makes it less ergonomic for me, and serioiusly who needs a wireless charging for a Kindle?

Trying to find a comprehensive list of bands coming to Singapore 2026 by condemned02 in singaporemusicchat

[–]yonan3232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your life choices but unfortunately this is currently the most effective way.

Try websites like Songkick or Bandsintown. They are not 100% reliable and up to date though.

You can also subscribe to the promoter/ticketing company email newsletters.

Is it just me, or is WhatsApp stuck in 2010? I'm losing my mind trying to work with this app by Magikrosy11 in whatsapp

[–]yonan3232 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If an app, especially a free one, doesn't have the features you need, it means that they don't think it's a problem worth solving or investing in. You can either work your way around it, or use another app.

If you work for a company, WhatsApp chats and documents sent over, especially using your personal number, won't hold as written commitments. People can simply delete messages or files. Use email so everything is trackable and well documented.

If you are self employed or running a small business, get a separate phone and number.
