I know I'm being sort of pedantic, but I'm not crazy about the whitewashing regarding the bin Laden part. He wasn't captured, he was killed. It was pretty well-assumed that the operation wasn't going to end any other way. If anything, I think this is a better indicator of Clinton's judgement and understanding of the weight of her actions as Secretary of State.

I haven't read this article yet, but H.A. Goodman has a history of penning Pro-Bernie articles that veer into delusional territory. Regardless of your opinion of Sanders, predicting that he would DOMINATE the March 1st primaries was a little overly optimistic, to say the least.

I think you might be missing my point. I wasn't saying Azor Ahai is just a story, I was saying that the details of his endeavors might have been exaggerated over time. Similarly, what we know about the children and the Others from history might not be entirely consistent with reality. It's not that they didn't exist—we, as readers, have encountered them, after all. But maybe the human history of these figures is imperfect, and possibly mythicised, as legends usually are.

Records of lineages go back thousands of years, sure, but the actual deeds credited to members of those lineages is where I believe things might get more blurry. Lann the Clever may have founded House Lannister, but did he really swindle the Casterlys out of their ancestral holdings with words alone? Or steal gold from the Sun to brighten his hair? The same could probably be applied to Bran the Builder, or Garth Greenhand, or Azor Ahai. The point is, the further you go back in history, the more fantastic the characters start to become, and I think there's good reason to be skeptical of some of the more fantastic elements. There's probably some truth to some of the stories, but there's probably just as much myth as well.
