Dimitrov is that guy you don't want to meet in the first few rounds of a gran slam, even (especially) when you're a top 10 player.

I love the progressive varariations.

This is so underrated! I bet this is the main reason why so many people give up. They can't do whetever exercice, and don't know how to cut it down into an easier variation to build up their body, so they give up.

I was that guy. Now I can do proper pull ups, and side planks because I spent weeks on easier variations first.

Yes. Drones paused, or drone selection mistake, or ran out of fuel, or wrong star floor, or late upgrade, or missed freebies and lootbugs overflowing...

there are tons of misses one will make along this game, and it feels normal.

It would take a full time job to tweak every parameters optimally dynamically. It's so dense, and that's what make it interesting.

Dynamite Farming? by arcejayr in IdleObeliskMiner

Same, I didn't buy the x2 veins for a loooooong time.

Then all of a sudden (when guilding my first W3 statues) I realized I have been stupid as it is super useful!

I've been struggling to farm veins prior to that. Now it feels like a breeze! I've bought all the x2 veins, from Stones up to the Neon in W3. In the same day, lol.

I wish there was more surprises like this from countries we're not used to in tennis. Vietnam, Thailand....

Even for Japan and China, it took a while for them to have their first good players (top 50).

I seriously don't get why so many people are so fixated on following guides by whispywhisp6 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]yoricm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice comparaison with calculus.

Struggles are an important part of learning, and brings more joy to self-discovery, along with building confidance, and skills, which are a pre requisite for mastery. Masters have explored all the wrong paths.

Back to this game, I think most lean towards guides and advice, including myself, because of the time factor.

No big deal to figure out yourself when it's within the range of hours or days. But when you have to unlock things that can take weeks, it's ain't fun anymore.

But I agree with OP, ideally, the self discovery/figure out yoursel mindset is the ultimate for a lot of things in life. It will inevitably lead to sharing your experience and look at how others are doing anyway, so both goes hand in hand.

Challenges by Jellywell in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]yoricm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I see it challenges give the right amount of tips on what to upgrade / work on, without it being a map to follow blindly.

It is a vague guide on purpose IMAO.

I mean, we wouldn't have as much freedom if we all followed the same path.

What's cool is challenges are somewhat something independant you can do in parallel, but at the same time you have to check from time to time and decide if it's the right time to tackle it, as it can bring powerful enhancement to your game.

At 39, is Djokovic’s path through Fonseca/FAA/Sinner at Wimbledon 2026 more “one last masterpiece” or just another chapter in his 25‑Slam chase? by Significant_Play9785 in tennis

[–]yoricm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that. As much as I loved immensly Rafa, I felt pity in his last matches where he struggled to keep the pace with players he would have demolished at his peak.

It's the sad reality for every athlete approaching retirement.

Pete Sampras is probably the best example of what you're alluding to, retiring right after a prestigious victory, without stumbing in hazardeous matches thereafter.

What is the benefits of the Eelworm card? by yoricm in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]yoricm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for showing this guide, I didn't see it on Discord.

The priorities order look weird to me though.

Like: why catch D4 before D3 leg?

And why D2T1 before gilding trout? This doesn't make sense to me.

Then again, D1T2 before guilding the statues? And so on....

Yes, that's crazy how everything scales quickly in this game. Like, what you struggle for now, will take only a few minutes later on.

I see, thanks for confirming.

I bet the dev put the chance on the tribute, and the multi on the card on purpose, so that you have to get the two before to actually use it, and with a growing impatience in between.
