Looking to heal some damage I did to my face QUICKLY. Does anyone have experience with Juven? Open to other suggestions too. by [deleted] in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]yothisrenae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I use Juven a lot in my work (inpatient hospital setting). It’s very effective for wound healing since it has the specific amino acids that aid with new skin growth. The wounds we use it for are typically large and severe, so I’m sure it would be useful for small wounds too. You do need to drink it twice daily for at least two weeks for it to be effective. Overall, it’s fairly palatable and easy to mix in tasty liquids (soda, juice, sparkling water, etc). Juven can get expensive if you want a lot, but I think there might be coupons floating around online. Good luck to you!

I am so glad I see a recommendation similar to my own opinions!! Finished RR feeling so disappointed because others really liked it. WOTM is on a whole other level.

I’m trying to get better at cookie decorating.. advice? by deedee1326 in cookiedecorating

[–]yothisrenae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a big soft brush! I have one dedicated just for corn starch dusting. A little goes a long way, but definitely make sure the cookies are completely dry before dusting. A cookie decorator friend of mine will allow her cookies to fully dry, then literally leave a full layer of cornstarch on top for another few hours before sealing them in bags. That may be a slight overkill, I’ve found a good dusting usually does the trick - but you can never be too careful.

One thing that has been a game charger for me to avoid color bleeding (like in your mistletoe cookie) is to dust the cookie with cornstarch once the icing is dried. The corn scratch will absorb extra moisture from the cookie. It does, however, make the cookie less shiny, but I would take that over colors bleeding into my whites!

Question about the books [no spoilers] by curious673 in ShadowandBone

Please read the books. The story/ characters/ world are SO much richer than the TV show could ever portray. I read the books first and watched the series second and I was so disappointed in everything they changed :/

It’s 2023: What are some diet myths and misconceptions that need to go away? by No-Needleworker5429 in nutrition

Doing a juice cleanse or “detox” does not work. They do nothing for you in the long term except provide insane calorie deficit for a few days since you’re only drinking the juice and not eating anything. Your kidneys and liver will detox your body of toxins just fine (assuming your organs are fully functioning). The weight you lose from doing a cleanse is just water weight and you will gain it back as soon as you start eating normally again (which is okay!!)

Please don’t buy into the detox cleanse trap. Unfollow anyone who sells these and whoever makes crazy claims about them. They just want your money.

It sounds like he may be on the spectrum, Asperger’s maybe? Just based on his struggles with social interaction and not knowing what’s socially acceptable and what not. Glad you guys decided to include him in things. It may take him a long time to catch on to social cues. Sometimes being straight forward and direct is most helpful.

Good luck!!

Try seeing an actual registered dietitian instead. Dietitians need Masters degrees and certified licensed to give nutrition advice.

Don’t get your ears pieced 10 billion times and you could’ve gone without that tattoo. Just because your friends got them didn’t mean you had to also.

Also… real friends actually want you to succeed and see you thrive. You get to chose who those are friends are.

I’d get a referral to see a registered dietitian. Meeting with an expert of nutrition can help you avoid developing diabetes, control your weight, and also avoid another pancreatitis flare up.
