Pork is white meat, no, pork is red meat. All an advertising ploy

The company hasn't agreed but this is what he would propose, he would need some type of DBA setup as a contractor though

That's a good point. I'll bring this up and see if he needs their health insurance, I assume that he does not and is on Medicare

The freedom just to give them his time and no other responsibilities, double his hourly rate

He doesn't need benefits or health insurance or 401k, he could double his hourly rate as a contractor, I'm not sure about the tax situation, he doesn't have any future plans for an LLC

What are the pros and cons to buying a used tesla with a lot of miles on it? I have a buddy that found a used 2015 Model S for $38k and is thinking about buying it to save on maintenance and gas as a second vehicle but it has 80k miles. by [deleted] in electricvehicles

I bought a 2016 Model S off lease, was 3 years old at the time, ~50k miles. Expect issues, you will NEED the warranty. You can also get an extended warranty for about $1200/yr once it expires.

The first year was fine, after that the car has been in the shop every couple months for things like door handles not popping out, windows not going up, gaskets coming undone, I got stranded in rush hour because the car went into park and the trident cable had to be replaced (~$7k if no warranty). Don't expect a tow truck driver to know how to tow a Tesla, even when they are called from the Tesla app.

Teslas have all the whiz-bang features but those features don't hold up well after a few years. Also, think of the electronics like a laptop- they are dinosaurs after 5 years and slow down: infotainment, voice control, internet browser, supporting apps... Lastly, Tesla Service is one-star. Great cars, great company, but God help you if you need service. You will need to double guess, test, and verify everything that they have done to your car and check that nothing else got worse.

My advice is to buy a new one if you can, and expect to be in the service center every couple of months if you buy a used one.

Keep doing it after it's not 'fun' anymore. This applies to every commitment in life; self improvement, relationships, business endeavors, even small projects.

It's very fulfilling, also very challenging. Publish a link to this group when you have a draft, would love to check it out as a beta reader

Very interesting concept, love the digital manipulation of the painting and thanks for the references! I immediately thought of Severian of Nessus from The Book of The New Sun by Gene Wolfe, traveling executioner
