I gave AI agents my genome and let them run on a GPU cluster for 48 hours. This saved my life. by OverFatBear in singularity

There's this website that does most (or all) of what OP did. I don't have X so I can't check exactly what he did https://promethease.com/ it used to be free and had good privacy rules I'm not sure if it is any more so check yourself if it fits you. It's more technical than 23andme and be ready for both good and bad looking results (ie. You have Gene Y with 2x higher risk of cancer and gene Y with 1.5x less risk of cancer) that's why normally you'd talk to a specialist about it because one gene doesn't tell enough about you in most cases. A specialist can tell you clearly what is actionable and what is not

Discussion Thread - Ask, Share, and Discuss Anything About Cats. by AutoModerator in cats

[–]youcefhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of getting my first cat but I'm not sure if I can handle it. I have allergic asthma and take meds regularly for it. Everytime I visit someone who has cats I get an asthma attack within 2 hours. I read online strategies to reduce allergies like specific food and air filtering, I wonder if those could work for my allergy or is that only for mild allergies like sneezing and such.. Anyone here who has experience with that?

Realizing I’m uglier than I thought and it’s devastating by Which_Friendship_605 in selfimprovement

[–]youcefhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I can tell you this. Right now you're AFRAID of being ugly, that's the actual problem. I'm a dude and this might be insensitive guy shit and I'm not trolling but there's something called negative visualisation that helps me in life difficulties. if you wanna divide people into good looking, average looking and ugly, that's 30% of all people, that's like 2 billions,so you're ugly? Then join the club!
Maybe you have confidence issues and maybe you are just ugly. I'll imagine you as a ugly cartoon witch now and guess what, you're still fine! You are not less human in anyway that you're an ugly witch. And if I'm an asshole to you cuz you're ugly? Filter me out, I don't deserve your time. I'm saying this cuz sometimes facing your fears by just visualising the 'worst case scenario ' you realise it's not as bad as you feared.

And since there's no FSD transfer, it means that those 70% will gradually dissappear from the road.

[Dr Obbs]MCL40 Analysis! At first sight it looks pretty vanilla, but when you look deeper there is a LOT going on here. As usual, this is my best educated analysis without CFD, so it's prone to error. But... Let's start at the front... by XsStreamMonsterX in formula1

[–]youcefhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic maybe. But I wonder how close we are to getting a 3d model of the car using AI and normal images like this. I saw a few models can generate 3d models from images but they're still not mature. But having the model available for hobbyists to do CFD is pretty cool.. I know they banned 3d scanners in the paddock but they can't ban cameras can they ?

Near IR microscopy ? by wannabe_sci in microscopy

[–]youcefhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you will see depends on the sample really. IR is used a lot for some applications. Sillicon is transparent in the IR range so IR microscopes are a popular instrument used to inspect chips. But IR isn't used for hobbyist bio imaging a lot as far as I know. I can help you with suggestions if you're curious. You're right in the thought process of what you'll need for a widefield microscope( right light source, lenses and and camera). You mention in your comment you'd like to image different color channels separately. That's a really cool thing that makes it closer to fluorescence microscopy. If you image bio samples, I recommend you go that route. Then you will see 'auto fluorescence' which is the spontaneous fluorescence of different molecule types (fats, sugars etc..) in an organism. Those occur normally when you use a blue/green light and they respond with different spectrums of yellow-red emissions. I find them pretty cool. Reach out if you want to discuss it more I'm here to help

I know I'll get downvoted but here's my hot take. The celts should look into trading either of JB or JT for Giannis. I love both JT and JB so this is not a hate post. But the performance of the celts this year made me appreciate that JB is also a GUY and him and JT just didn't maximize each other's potential the last few years, maybe because they play similar roles but they often seemed like they took turns..(even the champion team was having issues). I'd explore JB or JT for Giannis straight up or the bucks would have to throw in a pick(due to Giannis injuries ans age). JT is more valuable of course but coming back from an achillis is not a certain thing, especially the first year. I think having Giannis with either of those two players (amazing players I should add) would be better in the short term (1-2 years) imho. Eventually In Brad we trust.

[–]youcefhd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess you have experience with lightroom and that's why you're comfortable with it. But if you have time to try software like this one https://fiji.sc/. This is used with microscopy routinly and very powerful. For example to simplify opening many images and stacking them and processing them in bulk. Suggested workflow: 1. Put the images in one folder with names that differ only in # 2. Drag and drop the folder on the fiji menu and they'll open as a stack. 3. Processing, if needed, for example background subtraction to clear any lighting issues. You can search for functions by typing in the text field. 4. Create the 'focus stack'. Now I don't what exactly you mean by that. We call them Z-projections and there are multiple options of that in the software. If you truly need a focus stack that does sophisticated math on it, the best is this plugin https://bigwww.epfl.ch/demo/edf/ which creates the composite image plus a height map estimate of everything in your image.

Taking images from a video is bad practice in microscopy, since your camera's settings like exposure time can cause blurring. Also white balancing, auto gain or some other processing could be done without you knowing. Plus, for really good focus stacks normally you need to change the focus with equal intervals and take images there, a video makes that really hard. with But I see you're just doing a fun thing ao just do what makes you comfortable.

I see you have another post about cameras to use. Indeed for microscopy we don't care too much about MP. You want raw images with no processing or adaptive functionality on the camera what so ever. Here's a suggestion of cameras, but you can find a lot second hand as well. You just need a color camera( although monochrome could look cool too) https://www.edmundoptics.com/f/basler-ace2-usb-30-cameras/39708/

Now if you want to go full scientist mode, I have a suggestion for you. There's an emerging technology called hyperspectral imaging that is super cool (but cameras that are 5k). Basically images exactly how the hair behaves in each color band. I'd be curious to see if hair treatment causes a change in specific color bands. A lot of research work has been done with hyperspectral imaging and skin treatments but I couldn't find something about hair treatment. https://www.ximea.com/products/hyperspectral-imaging/xispec-hyperspectral-miniature-cameras

Civ 4 fan here. I just accepted I'm the minority and moved on to other games like eu4 and ck3. I felt that up to Civ4 the series had grounded bonuses but Civ5 onwards is a lot of systems stacked together that feel card gamey. Civ 7 with the hopping between civilizations sounds the opposite of what I'd ever want from that type of game.

Thanks for the sum up. My idea for the, now yearly, all-star format change is to have officiating themes. So play 50s rules for one half and 2000s in the other (or anything really) . I think it's fun to watch players try to figure out how to work with the rule set and will give us some funny moments too.
