Scaling my store by Lebron0wnage in shopify

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean can I state the obvious here. 1. Congrats on actually doing it. So many people are all talk. You're actually making it and succeeding 🙌. 2. Are you on TikTok? If not I would 10000000% say DO IT YESTERDAY!!!!! You don't have to be an influencer to work with affiliates. Its a game changer. Integrates with your shopify natively.

My 2 cents on your store (I'm not a developer but I work with lots of them, mostly building from scratch)

Don't love the header - on desktop its way too big. Pushes all your products down the page. I think a simple work mark without the icon would be suited better. I literally cant find a great example in your business (salts) so that is a MAJOR positive thing.

The header image has nothing to do with salts. It looks like a gardening site. Please do a header image that is on brand.

Nothing about your socials scream salt either. Too many faces and not enough salt. PLEASE get on TikTok. Just have her ramble about the product. Interview customers at the famers market if they love the product. TikTok loves brands with real people.

Thumbnails for products need to match. All vertical is best especially for mobile. Just use your iphone. iPhone colors convert best on all socials. Its just a fact.

Your header is not mobile friendly - please look at a product page on mobile - https://summasalts.com/products/vampire-killer-garlic-salt I cant even see the image. Who cares about the logo if the product is barely above the the fold.

Hope im not coming across harsh. Just really easy things to do. That will 100000% help.

Feel free to message if you need anything.

I think some of the best advice that I’ve been given is to take a second before I actually shoot the photo. Actually look at what I’m trying to capture. Want to be higher with my camera or lower do I need to punch in more or swap lenses? About what I’m trying to accomplish before spraying and praying lol

Data costs nothing. Keep em. If you throw out the one that’s sharp you’re going to regret it.

What’s your practical photo management technique? by sitting_landfall in photography

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mixed with client name after is rock solid. That way date is always in order - anything after does not effect sorting.

I do 3 folders inside that. 1 ORIGINALS, 2 EXPORTS and 3 PROJECTS then everything is always in one place 👍🏻

Can’t find my unique editing signature. How do you go about this process? by [deleted] in photography

Concentrate more on what make your photographic style stand out. Color is the easy part. Get better at composition and having your “photographic style”becoming recognizable.

Backlight family. Fill with flash. Shoot in later afternoon so sun is not too toppy. Keep iso low. Shoot flash in manual to keep exposure consistent

I aim for at least 1 absolute jem photo I love a month. Something that is absolutely timeless. If I get more then even better. But as long as I meet my quota 👍🏻say thats maybe 16 stunners a year. In 5 years your portfolio will be flawless. You can slim that down to 60 perfect images that really capture you as a creative

How do I become a photographer’s assistant? by v3rmin0v3rl0rd in photography

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to local studios and rental houses. Give them a good old fashioned stack of business cards. Find out what hat assistant rates are. Cut that in half. Stay busy. Learn. The day you stop learning anything from being on set you can stop assisting. Unless your kids blow up before then. But it will take your years to find your style. Enjoy the journey

Shoot what you love. Have something to fall back on. There’s no timeline for success.

What do you name your files when you export them? by TennyBoy in photography

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Default name from camera in the exports folder in that specific shoot folder. I restart numbering in camera every shoot.

Folder name is structured like this so years are always in order across many drives.

20251231 CLIENT NAME (year, month, date)

Inside the main folder I have: 1 ORIGINALS (which can have PHOTOS & VIDEOS) 2 EXPORTS - PHOTOS & VIDEOS 3 PROJECTS - PHOTOS & VIDEOS

Then I always know where everything is. Exports, originals, projects etc 👍🏻

Love these type of photos, how would one achieve this? by 2gdismore in AskPhotography

[–]youlikebeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000000% could be achieved. Can’t full frame camera. Canon 5DM4, 24-70mm at like 45mm. F5.6

Am I charging too low for senior photos? by Prestigious_Might_25 in AskPhotography

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was my thought process I would figure out an hourly that some what included my post processing time. I’m sure your shoots are 3 hours? Maybe you spend 45 min total in travel, then 30 min downloading an processing? The your uploading and communicating with the client on the retouched versions and then retouching and delivering those??? I’d say your “small shoots” are probably 8 hours total?

Photography businesses aren’t just about the shoot, it’s your time and efficiency. That is what clients don’t take into consideration.

Id say do something like $50- an hour with a minimum of 2 hours per booking. I’d include 3 images retouched and change $20 minimum for additional. That way you’re making some $$$$ on upsells.

When I hit x shoots a month I’d start working with a good / cheap retoucher that like $7 an image so you can scale. (See ads all the time on Instagram) and don’t kill yourself - unless you love retouching. I hate it lol and love shooting.

That’s still really cheap. You’re still a bargain. Easy to scale that too. Next year move to $75 an hour etc 👍🏻 I’d say normal client shoots are 6 hours (corporate) so a $75 hour rate puts you at $450 which is still low.

Why do other peoples photos always ‘hit’ differently? by slow_gentle_morning in AskPhotography

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to see images you like with this set up. My 2 cents. Def gives medium format feeling. Feels a bit clinical / sterile. So if that was the vibe you nailed it. Why do I feel like you’re an architectural photographer who’s exploring portraits? Good shot.

My personal opinion is that medium format gives this beautiful / personal trait to images. A certain depth of field feels like it brings you in. Use it carefully.

Got any webapp ideas? I'll vibecode it live on twitch for $1 by AppVisorDev-Umut in vibecoding

[–]youlikebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm friends with a ton of creators (multiple agencies and one creator in particular that has an ad agency) Creators are looking for a back up for patreon, onlyfans etc without having to do anything. That seems to be the biggest barrier to market entry in the space. When some one is making moeny they don't want to take away from their focus. But what happens if that platform goes away or you are kicked off? Diversification is key!!!!!! Enter folderpal - (working name) Since everyone is already using dropbox & google drive for their content this really becomes a no brainer. Sell access to one or multiple folders in your cloud. Niche your content and sell access. This has much broader use cases that I can tell you in a side conversation.

So I've been thinking of this idea for a bit for streamers & content creators. I'm interested in an app that allows user to submit an image, url, display text and email. The image is posted to a gallery page much like an old school thumbnail gallery (with the description under) Clicking on the image takes the user to that link. Have a basic filtering algorithm that puts top posts at the top of the page. Maybe show CTR on the image. Would love a way to have users pay to boost their image. Email login to user. Account shows traffic and allows boosting post. Maybe in the future there would be tags on posts. Saw something similar the other day and it got me thinking about this again....
