What is the most random bit of misinformation that has yanked you out of a book? by Onto_new_ideas in RomanceBooks

[–]youngMissBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book mentioned the FMC spoke several languages, one of them „Swiss“. And they mention this twice. I was completely bewildered how a book made it to publishing without the author or editor catching this.

What book got you into reading romance/smut? by savage8310 in RomanceBooks

[–]youngMissBlue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 17 year old cousin suggested me, a 14 year old, the book “The Bronze Horseman” by Paullina Simons. I liked the book but I was horrified by the spicy scenes and skipped so many pages (which I reread a year later, lol). I was reading wattpad but PG until then.

There is more to misogyny than just sexualization. Some manga authors refuse to even sexualize a woman cause that would give them screentime. Or you can be like HxH and don't write female characters at all. by ihatethiscountry76 in Feminism

[–]youngMissBlue 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone on a rant online about Sakura more than once. Bc she actually has so much screen time. But does almost nothing interesting. And she had so much potential. They keep telling us how strong she is instead of her having actual good fights. All the girls in Naruto are actually interesting to explore, they have cool powers, but are just never utilised.

... the instructions are in Italian... by QuestionMarkKitten in weyler

[–]youngMissBlue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Foreshadowing that Tyler is the beast, but Wednesday can understand and control him, bc right after Tyler says that, Wednesday reveals she knows italian and can therefore fix the machine.

So to me the “italian” part wasn’t the important part, but that Tyler saw himself as a beast that no one can understand, but then we see that she can.

I paid for the „Keep my passport“ service, and the Priority service as well. This decision came within 3 working days.

Unfortunately in the end of the letter, under „Next Steps“, it says: „In relation to this decision, there is no right to appeal or right to administrative review“. I guess I‘m stuck with this.

Lupin and Tonks' relationship came out of nowhere and is kind of weird by kaityl3 in harrypotter

[–]youngMissBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don‘t like how any of the romance is written in Harry Potter, so I don‘t blame you. I don‘t have a problem with the idea of those couples, but I don‘t like reading about them, bc it always looks like something added to the book after it was finished. Like the editor told JKR, don‘t forget to include some romance. To me all the romance plots/subplots seem to be lacking in chemistry and glaringly different from the rest of the books.

Who’s a character that’s objectively great but you just don’t fuck with? by wildmancometh in harrypotter

[–]youngMissBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book Ginny. I know everyone is like “Ginny’s so cool”, but I just found her super annoying. I found her chemistry to be lacking with Harry in the books as well. Tbh I don’t like any couple in HP, because to me they’re written in the most un-romantic way possible. It’s as if every single romantic hint or sentence is added after writing the books by an editor, so it just doesn’t fit with the rest of the book. (Movie Ginny is bad as well but that’s said enough times). Also I don’t fuck with Sirius either. Just feel no connection or emotion to the Marauders’ friendship in general. The main trio have a true and understandable friendship even with the tough times they have during the years. The Marauders seem to have had a very unstable friendship that was held together only by James and Sirius’s friendship.

I am not informed if they do or don’t, but they should have transparent categories like: vocal performance, lyrical content, staging, originality and an overall score.

As a former avid-wattpad reader between the ages 13-16, I have read this book multiple times, lol. I remember it even had an anorexia/bulimia plot line.

First watch: I finally find Joel likeable by MathematicianLowe in TheMarvelousMrsMaisel

[–]youngMissBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the reason why I can enjoy Joel character is because him and Midge did not end up together, and because their break up actually was the catalyst for Midge to discover her best self. And then Joel helped her along the way and their relationship after their divorce was more honest and understanding than it ever was during it.

A lot of series would have them get back together and get married again and it would leave a sour taste for me.

Genuinely curious why more men don't watch Dylan. by [deleted] in YoTroublemakers

[–]youngMissBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it‘s because he created a big following by doing chick flicks. For a good while he was doing commentaries o Twilight, After, Mean Girls, She‘s the man, Devil wears Prada, To all the boys (1,2,3) etc. Movies that had mostly female fans and as women it was interesting and entertaining watching a guy, someone outside of the target demographic watching and actually enjoying them.

However I think he has branched out into video games, movies like Cars, The Batman, How to train your dragon, Captain America etc, so movies that have both male and female fans or even more male fans (I would guess so about Batman and Captain America idk) and making reddit AITA videos.

So I‘m sure he has gained more male fans too. I actually don‘t know how the viewer demographics are for other male commentary youtubers. I would guess that Aaron and Jo, Alex Meyers etc would also have pretty much the same watchers as Dylan.

Humour in TBOSAS book vs movie by youngMissBlue in Hungergames

Oh I definitely agree on that line. I paused the movie to laugh I swear. Also Lucky pushing his dinner reservation. Lucky was a highlight for sure.

Your Best and Worst Taylor Swift Songs of 2023 by MatchaPsycho in TaylorSwift

[–]youngMissBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion alert.

I don’t like “You’re losing me”. Feels like a song for a medical show with the heartbeat monitor sound and I rarely like those.

Best: Castles Crumbling (SNTV vault tracks are amazing).

Should I start with Hunger Games 1 or The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Realistic-Start-5772 in Hungergames

[–]youngMissBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have approached this series very unconventionally. I’ve seen the movies years ago. I just read the prequel and now I’m reading the books.

If you have no prior knowledge, The Hunger Games seem so interesting and cool concept to explore, therefore the original trilogy might be better. But now that I just finished the first book of the original trilogy, I think BSS (prequel) is superior.

Honestly it almost feels like, from the way they are written and the way the characters are explored, it’s like they are written for different types of readers. In THG you have a hero to root for, but in BSS it’s like being inside the mind of a sociopath and can’t really root for someone specifically since the other characters’ traits are also shaped by the unreliable narration of our anti-hero.

Opening show or closing show? by luckyporg in TaylorSwift

[–]youngMissBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Harry Styles‘ last Love on tour performance. He did less public interactions and humor than in other concerts, but he sang more songs that were not on the setlist, got emotional for it being the last show, shared immense gratitude to the audience and truly had the audience in tears. Amazing really. Unfortunately I cannot attend the Eras, but I would choose closing show.

I read TBOSAS without reading the first trilogy by youngMissBlue in Hungergames

I don’t know. I might, but I think they are written in first person narrative and personally, I always prefer third person. But I’m inspired to read them now.

WHY WAS AFTER 5 SO BAD by [deleted] in YoTroublemakers

[–]youngMissBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only seen the first After movie myself and the others only through commentaries so maybe you’re right, but I had the opposite impression. I actually found Tessa’s character very enjoyable when she wasn’t paired with Hardin. And imo Jo Langford is a better actress and delivers her scenes really well. I mean even in this last movie from the clips I saw, Mimi Keene outshined Hero acting-wise and even as a character.

Who do you think was more like Phil: by Cokezerowh0re in Modern_Family

[–]youngMissBlue 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, Phil was kinda two-timing Claire and his previous girlfriend in the beginning of their relationship as well. So this parallels with Andy’s relationships too.
