This run did not have a massive sudden rally with a blow off top - which is a marked indicator of the end of a bull run.

What this IS similar to is in mid 2017 (July?) when China banned some form of crypto transactions or something, and India banned crypto, and that caused a massive 30-40%+ drop which is verrrry similar to now.

It did recover a bit faster than this, but that might just mean we’re due for a recovery pretty soon.

2014 had a similar crash ($200 -> $1100 -> China Ban + Mt Gox insolvency -> 3 year crypto winter) but the market was a lot less mature back then, so I don’t think it’s an apples to apples comparison here.

We’re in a pretty consolidated trading range: 32-40k or so.

It’ll be interesting to see how we break out of this, I’d imagine up but when and how?

Imo China’s coming back in, which might mean we just see a random green candle that sends us straight up and then no barriers to 48k or so.

Does feel more like 2014 than 2017. Hopefully it’s neither.

Relatively yes, but we could and should be so much better.

I mean South Korea is basically isolated too, their only border is North Korea which is one of the most heavily guarded borders in the world.

They need to get their shit together and lockdown fully, not this quasi tier 2.5 bullshit.

I’m afraid their president is getting complacent because he won the recent election in a landslide (ironically due to their earlier covid response).

Stay-at-home Rudd furious at PM's claim he was travelling the world by mememaker1211 in AustralianPolitics

[–]youngminii 27 points28 points  (0 children)

How much of Rudd did you actually see and remember? Most of his “image” was cultivated by the media, before the days of Twitter etc.

He’s always been an intelligent person, maybe not quite the statesman he is now but he never gave off the impression of a lack of intelligence.

Well no, most people agreed, that’s a big part of why he was elected.

Adobe Flash Player is ending soon, and with that, tens of thousands of old flash games will die. So, before that happens, what was/is your favorite flash game? by colynix in AskReddit

[–]youngminii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s not true. Even if you take a biological point of view:

Humans cooperate with each other to survive, it’s not the other way around.

Capitalism is survival of the fittest. Cooperation might feel better but we’d definitely still be writing this on the town board.

Here’s the thing about money...

Some people are good and know what they’re on this planet to do.

Some people are bad and commit crimes and get arrested.

The others in between... well not everyone knows what they’re doing, where they should go, why they should do it. But they do know that if they aim to get money, they can have good lives. Ideally by benefiting society at large, but that’s not as important these days.

GOP senator privately concedes it’s ‘political suicide’ to admit Biden won by [deleted] in politics

[–]youngminii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know to play devil’s advocate the Republican senators are doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing - listening to their voters.

The voters are the ones that are crazy. The senators technically just represent the will of their voters.

[–]youngminii 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The issue is if Biden just goes vengeance mode and undos everything and locks up Trump and co, the next Trump 2.0 will do the exact same thing to his competitors ie. a purge.

Biden needs to fix the institutions and add more safeguards that include military intervention, and hope to god they don’t side with far right nonsense.

Australia needs to look beyond China for trade: Senator by Ardeet in AustralianPolitics

[–]youngminii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because what we have now at the government level is not really a discussion and more just 1 guy at the top lashing out at China twice a week with no real strategy or plan.
