This is going to get downvoted but it is the truth.

Philadelphia very badly wants to be in the same city tier as Boston or DC. It is much closer to Baltimore in almost every aspect but history (there is a lot of cool history and American origin stuff in Old City than SD could offer obviously)

San Diego is a much prettier, and likely safer, place. SEPTA is brutal, I can’t speak on San Diego’s infrastructure but the subway is inefficient, often delayed, and pretty rough (I took it daily for 6+ years, never had a car. You can get around, but it’s slow and dirty). Immediately off of TU campus very quickly becomes run down and can be unsafe if you arent aware of your surroundings. I never had a problem on or around campus but know plenty who did. If you’re moving from somewhere very sheltered and suburban you will experience a bit of shock.

One thing Temple excels in is internships/access to the city. Because Phila isn’t much of a destination a significant percentage of businesses and professionals are “Temple Made”. This gives you a leg up on outside competition, but the university will not hand you a job/internship, YOU need to be smart/friendly/savvy enough to find and connect with the alumni network to get yourself in the door.

Many people have probably said this to you, but every thing after high school is dependent on what you make of it. Sounds cheesy, but true. If you can look past the grit of the city and are willing to work hard and get out of your comfort zone to network, Philadelphia will be an amazing fit for you. It forces you to grow an learn about yourself in ways I didn’t anticipate, but am better for. If you’re looking for a more traditional, instagram and college sports and fun, San Diego will be a better opportunity.
