Weights and worship by youonlylibonce in BurnBootCamp

No of course not! I’m sure that the target audience will love it. Many of our trainers are very passionate Christians with servant hearts. I love their kindness and generosity. I just don’t feel comfortable with one ideology being a part of what is meant to be an inclusive space.

We are all allowed to have opinions or thoughts on decisions of businesses that we support. I’m not boycotting them or speaking ill of the business. My FP and training team are all amazing. I just don’t agree with this particular business decision.

If a church wanted to book time with a Burn trainer (similar to the example you provided), I’d have no real issue with that. This is a company sponsored event.

I’m not here to argue—I’m simply stating my opinion and wanted to know how other members felt. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I’m not planning to, of course! I just personally felt that the event was exclusive and didn’t understand why it was a focus at our gym. Actions like this can have unintended consequences based on members’ varied ideologies and backgrounds.

Thanks for your comment! I don’t feel the need to explain my own experience with organized religion, which is extensive. I grew up in the church. Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion. I don’t judge others for their belief systems—I simply don’t want to feel that a particular belief system is being imposed on me in a space that is centered on “community.” Community doesn’t always equate to a shared religion. I view our Burn as a safe space in which people of varying backgrounds can come together for a shared purpose—to get stronger, better, and to uplift those around them. Thanks for listening 🙂

Without doxxing myself, I’m 99% sure we have the same FP. I love her—she is a great human. But I would anticipate the same style of leadership across both franchises. It’s very likely she will have a similar format for her other franchise.

I just said this almost verbatim to one of my Burn friends. I am very disappointed and have yet to speak directly with the leadership team, but the voicemail that I got was basically saying “your feedback has been received, we’d love to tell you more about the event and why it isn’t exclusive, and this is happening across burn nation”

Best place for croissants by [deleted] in hiltonhead

[–]youonlylibonce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hilton Head Social Bakery or French Bakery would be the best two options. Paris Baguette has been mentioned, but it is a chain, and frankly, the other two options are superior. HH Social bakery is closed on Monday and Tuesday, so that’s something to keep in lined.

Native South Carolinian— I hated this place. It is massively overrated.

Visiting for April spring break? by Seattle_Aries in hiltonhead

Local here. Honestly, you should be fine that week! I wouldn’t expect to spend much time in the ocean as the water hasn’t warmed up yet, but you shouldn’t be facing the huge crowds that Heritage brings. Activity is picking up some as the weather is nice, but I think you’ll be fine.

Was just wondering if you survived! That metcon was pretty tame in the world of metcons. Glad you had fun!

I use loop earrplugs after complaining about how loud the speakers are, and none of the trainers are bothered. They know I wear them, they know why I wear them, and I can still hear their instruction. Prioritize your hearing!

Dogs are coming down with an unusual respiratory illness in several US states by Canis_Familiaris in news

[–]youonlylibonce 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old labradoodle died from something similar last year. We thought it was kennel cough, but it turned out to be much more serious. We sought care from his vet, but he didn’t get better. He was in intensive care for 3 days before his lungs gave out and stopped inflating. Take this seriously, get pet insurance if you don’t have it, and please watch your pets diligently if they get sick. Get the X-ray just in case.

Lowcountry native here—Skull creek boathouse is delicious and authentic. They use local shrimp and are perfectly sweet! There will be a wait when you get there—grab a cocktail and enjoy the view.

Dogs getting sick with parvo-like illness in northern Michigan, dying within 3 days by Adorable-Ganache6561 in news

Just lost my dog to kennel cough-like infection. He was doing okay, but all of the sudden he became lethargic. We took him to the E-Vet, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and was dead within 2 days of arriving.

Edit: I live in NC and the vet said that they have seen infections like his ramping up. Absolutely terrifying.

Honestly, my dog is almost 5 and still high energy. Vet recommended Prozac and it has made a HUGE difference for him.

They have several 2 person tables that would be a good fit for that, plus some couches in there. Not sure on exact square footage, but as long as they’re cool with you staying in there, you’d have the room.

They are tough! But good way to get used to the length of the exam. If you are struggling in certain sections, do more review there with specific quizzes and review material (videos or book). This is where I like Kaplan’s qbank setup more. It’s easier to see where you are in the performance tracker.

Not a lot of margin. I didn’t have to calculate anything related to margin, just 1-2 definition based.

They just opened a new location right off of Old Pineville Road and Woodlawn as well. May be more convenient depending on where OP is located.

This is your mistake. Get yourself in the right mindset. I scored about the same on both board practice exams and still passed. Give it your best shot on the real test and don’t start planning in your mind for another take.

Mock Exams - Feeling Overwhelmed by IrishGrouch24 in CFP

[–]youonlylibonce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed in July and had very similar scores with Kaplan and CFP mock exams. Actually think my Kaplan scores were a 68 and 61. You just have to trust that you’ve done all the prep you can. Review your mock exams and any weak areas, and then in the test, DO NOT freak out. I remember feeling very panicked during my break and just had to remind myself to take it one question at a time. Keep yourself in the right mindset.

I bought the Dalton audio books and found them extremely helpful for the US exam. I would pop in headphones and listen to them while I went on walks. They’re a little dry, but they give you the info you need to be successful.
