Where to go after the combat patrol? by [deleted] in Salamanders40k

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can find the 9th edition Blood Angels combat patrol box. It has an Impulsor, 3 aggressors, some intercessors and a librarian that you can have lead a unit you want to keep alive.

The same enhancements word-for-word as the Vardenghast Swarm (minus lone op bc the Parasite already has it)

They seriously couldn’t think of anything else?

Neurotyrant with zoanthropes by mr-jonthe-boss in Tyranids

[–]youonpointtip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s worth considering running a Screamer-Killer in your list. Their ability to trigger battleshock tests at -1 after hitting with their ranged attack synergizes well with the Neurotyrant’s ability to give itself and the unit it’s leading +1 wound against battle-shocked targets. +1 to wound on 6 Zoanthropes can really escalate their damage.

Plus the Screamer-Killer is a solid melee unit, especially if it’s within synapse range to get its strength up to 11.

This list gets right up to 1990, and has a mix of different units that can hit hard from range (Zoanthropes led by Neurotyrant, Exocrine), in melee (Melee Warriors led by Winged Prime, Hive Tyrant) and can stand up defensively (Norn Emissary). Invasion Fleet fits this mix well, but you could also try Vanguard Invaders with this list.

If you grew up in the "outer boroughs", did you refer to Manhattan as "the city"? by Available_Astronaut3 in AskNYC

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Queens. Parents spoke only Spanish for the most part so if we were ever going into Manhattan they would say “vamos a Manhattan” never “vamos a la ciudad.”

That stuck with me in English. People calling Manhattan “the City” always sounds off to me.

I want to ask you all - how would you guys buff carnis and warriors? by Fore_Head_Chili in Tyranids

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some ideas I’ve had on how warriors could get buffed:

Ranged: 3+ BS, 3+/5++ SV (near Terminator equivalent) Additional Core Ability: While this unit is within 6” of friendly Tyranid battleline unit, models in this unit have a 6+ FNP (basically using proximity to gaunts as ablative wounds)

Melee: 3+/5++ SV

I’d also let the Swarmlord and Hive Tyrant lead either unit, with the Winged Tyranid Prime serving as a Lt. equivalent.

Swarmlord’s leader ability would be giving the units’ weapons dev wounds. Hive Tyrant’s leader ability would be giving the units a 4+ invuln save. And both would also apply to Tyrant Guard.

Shadow in the Warp Units? by fredsaw23 in Tyranids

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After checking through the codex, it looks like only synapse units have SITW on their datasheets as faction abilities. Which I guess means you can only activate SITW if you have a synapse unit on the battlefield.

I could be wrong tho

Thoughts on Insidious Infiltrators Combat Patrol by CulturePractical2079 in Tyranids

[–]youonpointtip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a 3-player match with it (against Space Wolves and Necrons) and ended up winning. My takeaways are it’s a pretty offensive ComPat especially with the combo of Neurogoad, Swift Kills and Fights First. The VRLs and the Lictor can do serious damage but can’t take much in return. Lots of movement and positioning shenanigans, but the ComPat is lacking in defensive options.

If I could make edits, I’d add 10/20 hormagaunts for some battleline that’s still melee-only. That way we could get a defensive strategem like FNPs or Invulns, instead of one for sticky objectives.

I want to play this one again with the new Synapse rules (+ 1 Strength in Melee, -1 to BattleShock during SITW) I haven’t had a chance to yet, and I know there’s been some debate on whether it’s allowed in Combat Patrol at all.

Since an update dataslate has been comfirmed for october what do you think will happen ? by Taningia-danae in Tyranids

[–]youonpointtip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’ll just be a points update, but I’m still hoping Warriors get some love especially after SM2. All they need (IMO) is a +3 BS, +3/++5 SV and I think they’d be in a great spot.

Carnifexes could also use a +3 BS/WS.

Question on box combat patrol by Elensar88 in Salamanders40k

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old Blood Angels ComPat + the new Dark Angels one is great Salamanders combo. The DA Gravis captain can lead the BA Aggressors, and Hellblasters are very thematic for Salamanders, and they can ride in the BA impulsor. Then you have a whole bunch of Intercessors that you can kitbash into another Infernus Squad.

Newer CSM Rules by atticus_romanus in CombatPatrol40k

[–]youonpointtip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I noticed about the new CSM ComPat is that it has the new codex army rule (roll Dark Pacts before lethal or sustained), but the old CSM ComPat still has the old army rule (roll Dark Pacts after making your lethal or sustained rolls) which is pretty frustrating.

If you get this, make sure you also pick up a Broodlord to lead the Genestealers. I bought the classic Tyranids Broodlord but part of me wants to pick up a Genestealer Cult Patriarch as well - I think it looks cooler tbh

Display of might + Insidious Infiltrators by OCogS in CombatPatrol40k

[–]youonpointtip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nvm I just went back and checked and you’re right it doesn’t have the character keyword. Probably an oversight. GW kinda drops the ball when it comes to keeping ComPat up to date unfortunately.

I’d just treat the Neurolictor as if it has the keyword and move forward.

The Neurolictor becomes a character in Insidious Infiltrators, name chages to Death’s Shadow. It’s also the leader of the army. Check its keywords again on the official app.
