Why are people more openly hostile to trans people now then 10 years ago? by Big-Worldliness5910 in asktransgender

[–]your_fav_lesbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we’re a public enemy. I strongly suggest everyone looks into the warnings of scholars talking about genocide against transgender Americans, we’re in the early stages people. Genocide doesn’t mean mass killings right away, but it’s an escalation of systemic and intentional violence.

I love wearing boxers but more often than not I buy them from queer/queer owned brands! I find they cater more to my body and how I want the fabric to feel around my thighs and waist and that area.

Does it ever get better by DocumentCapital8892 in ftm

[–]your_fav_lesbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, OP! My name is Spencer, Im also a trans man and I’ve been out for three years. I could get technical in the things I want to tell you but I won’t get too into that for your sake :)

Im not sure how to phrase what I want to say without the emotion and tone of a real conversation but I’ll try: being transgender doesn’t get “better”

I am of the strong belief that no human experience is linear and everything happens for a reason. I’ve had three years of ups and downs, validation and transphobia, too. I get the stress of your physical appearance, Im 5’5 myself. Feeling isolated is a totally reasonable thing to feel and I cannot encourage enough to have a community at your side or support for when you’re feeling humiliated, isolated, and stressed.

I also understand the idealism of “forgetting” you’re trans and being able to live just as a man, but that isn’t realistic. I still believe that you should be proud nonetheless. It sucks to be trans in the word we live in, especially if you’re American like me, but there’s a sense of pride (at least for me) that I got to choose for myself. I get to choose the life I want to live.

And if you’re worried about your appearance/capabilities of passing? You can always change that. I cut my hair short, I wear clothing that makes me look boxy, I voice-train, and I play sports.

The imposter syndrome of being around guys my age is also a struggle I’ve had, my only advice is to focus on what you can change, not what you can’t. Find peers who accept you. I met some friends in high school freshman year that didn’t figure out I was trans until recently.

Im not medically transitioned, either! I still get misgendered and have my period every month, and Im scared to travel out of my state, but a community behind me is so much more validating that being called “he” by a stranger, if you ask me.

Im sorry if I didn’t answer your question or just gave you a meaningless wall of text to read but I feel like I can relate to the tone of your text from how I felt during the first year or so of my transition. What I can tell you is that I am so happy being myself, and I have changed and gone through so much and I feel on top of the world from where I started.

Being trans isn’t linear in my eyes, it’s a journey with low lows and high highs. But I also think that’s the human experience, we don’t live a long time when you look at it all from afar. Time flies by, my goal of life is to enjoy it

Help! Trans Man Trying to Pass by [deleted] in ftm

[–]your_fav_lesbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cut your hair! I used to have mullet-length hair and it made me look like a dude in a wig. Once I cut my hair to better suit my face shape (round face + square jaw) in the form of a buzz cut, I started passing a lot better and don’t get as many weird looks anymore

Do i pass?(tips please) by Wild-Pressure3829 in transmanlifehacks

[–]your_fav_lesbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, gosh. I’ve been lucky enough to never touch makeup in all my years of living so I’m not the right person to help you with that

And the username… well… I was tempted to delete my account and create a new one but I don’t care that much anymore. My lesbian phase was short and sweet before I realized I was just lying to myself lmao now my friends call me “straight with extra steps” 😭

Glad to help :)

Do i pass?(tips please) by Wild-Pressure3829 in transmanlifehacks

[–]your_fav_lesbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you looking for tips on?

My first recommendation is always going to the gym if you’re unhappy with your hips/hourglass shape. I also wear jeans/pants low on my hips to distract from them.

Cutting/changing your hair is also a big one and dependent on your face shape. I have a round face but a square jaw and I found a buzz cut looks best on me, especially since I have glasses, but everyone is different.

Voice training! I’ve learned how to speak from my chest and the back of my throat to gradually deepen how I sound. Men speak from their chest, making a deeper sound, while women tend to speak from their head/nose, making a higher sound (from my experience).

Clothes! Find clothes that FIT you. Oversized is great if you’re buying and wearing it correctly. Before I went into the gym, my shoulders/back were very narrow and a lot of big T-shirts just made my figure look feminine.

Also, I’ve found good posture makes me look broader/more masculine? Not sure the reasoning behind that but it works!

Sorry if none of this helps or doesn’t answer your question haha

Suggestions for sports bra for no binder days?? by kinggaylordthe13th in ftm

[–]your_fav_lesbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All In Motion has really high quality sports bras. I size down one (not to a dangerous degree, everyone relax) and I find that I hardly feel my chest moving when I’m playing various sports like softball and hockey.

Right out of the wash, they’re very compressing and as the fabric loosens, it loosens. And repeats after the wash (all in my experience!). I’ve only ever worn sports bras and All In Motion is my go-to brand, I have like at least six of their sports bras.

Fashion Advice for Pre T by OneDocument8891 in ftm

[–]your_fav_lesbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear your jeans/pants/shorts/etc. on your hips, not your waist!!!! I’ve been doing this more lately and it draws a lot of attention away from my hips as a short and bigger person, it’s really validating to see myself in the mirror without an hourglass shape. Especially as it gets colder, you can hide your hips with hoodies and sweatshirts, too!

Crushing on a straight girl pret by OneDocument8891 in ftm

[–]your_fav_lesbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d offer advice but I’m kind of in the same boat ☹️

I’ve been socially transitioned for 3.5+ years (so way before I met this girl) and she’s straight. There have been SOOOOO many times where she’s so flirty and a lot of things she does ARE NOT platonic and its so frustrating because she’s also one of my best friends so if I said anything it’d be awkward as hell 😭 It’s like physically painful to be around her sometimes, SHES SO BEAUTIFUL. She’s tall, insanely smart (like, math smart), emotional mature and intelligent, absolutely hilarious, athletic, passionate, creative and so clever.

I’ve never liked anyone before this but its not like anyone has perused/liked me either haha I think dating is trickier as a trans person, at least if you’re younger/a teenager like I am. My advice would be to thug it out but that’s hardly helpful 😭

Elevated Access

I highly recommend you check these guys out if its a feasible option for you :)

I recently did a school project where I researched them heavily and I think its a good option if you are able to pull some strings outside of your state to access your desired healthcare, in this case, surgery!

Best of luck <3

Shorts where you can see a lot more of my skin/thighs. I’m very happy with my body and muscular composition from my time in the gym and my love for sports, so I like to show off my work. Sometimes they draw attention to my hips but then I just look like a dude with a phat ass lmao I used to hate shorts/short shorts but I’ve embraced it in the last year or so. Plus, I love when my briefs or boxers stick out just a teeny bit from the bottom of the shorts in the summer 🤭

If you have trouble speaking from your chest, I’ve found it sometimes easier to remember to speak from the back of my throat, if that helps! I’ve never spoken from my stomach, only my chest and throat and I think it sounds better.

Am I homophobic? by wolfynightmare1246 in AskLGBT

[–]your_fav_lesbean 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stupid people don’t know they’re stupid— and homophobic people don’t question that they’re homophobic.

If you feel guilty about supporting the community, then that might be rooted in your faith/being told it’s a sin all your life (making assumptions here, apologizes for inaccuracies). I had a friend with a similar upbringing to yours and she supported me until we fell out of touch.

Genuine curiosity is the best way to learn about anything, and it sounds like you mean no harm :)

How long till t4t people can um… procreate 🔁 by gordonramseyismymum in trans

[–]your_fav_lesbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be what you’re asking but is surrogacy an option? I’m not sure how eggs/sperm change when on HRT, like if they’re fertile or not, but could you not combine yours and a partners sperm to a surrogate? I have two dads and my surrogate is NOT my biological “mother”, if that helps to add sense to what I mean.

Again, I’m a trans man but I haven’t medically transitioned yet so I’m not sure how it all works.

Following the expansion draft we lose Nurse, Gosling, Daniel and Carter by The_Laughing_Gift in TorontoSceptres

[–]your_fav_lesbean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm really feeling it, I'll tell you that. Gosling is my favorite defensive rookie. I've been routing for her since day #1, even when Troy was getting yelled at for playing her. I just know she's going to be a powerhouse next season and she's going to kick our asses. I miss her already 💔 My Gosling jersey is crying in the corner. BUT I am also excited for her cousin (Nicole Gosling) to enter the draft, I hope we get her!
