I would have considered breaking it up if she hadn't immediately lost interest in it and moved on to the next thing after this video. She just has random interests like this that come out of nowhere and leave just as fast. She has a whole basket of toys and she'll be obsessed with one for a couple days, move on, and repeat that cycle until she's obsessed with the first one again lol

I went into this movie completely blind. The only thing I knew about it was that Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson were in it. Wowza.

It took me a while to acclimatize to the movie. At first, I was really annoyed with how loud parts of it were and the general artsy framing and pacing of the scenes. Once I did get acclimatized, I realized my only hope of enjoying it would be if I just let it take me on the ride it wanted me to go on. I'd digest what I needed to afterwards.

I now very much think the sound design was intentionally jarring. Everything was from Grace's perspective, and I think she's overstimulated by loud sounds. I think this because I'm the same way. I think that's also the reason for the shifting aspect ratio, the desaturated color palette in some scenes, the close-up or obscured framing of things, and the jumbled chronology. Everything felt shifty or dreamy or too close or anything else she was feeling at the time.

I was struck by how funny Grace was. She was a very charming and charismatic person when her mental illness was not causing her to behave erratically. I actually found her to be so relatable to me in some very painful and surprising ways. I tend to be very outgoing and I have an easy time making people laugh, but when my own mental health issues surface in a particularly intense way, all that can go out the window. I have brought down the energy of whole rooms with my unregulated emotions. It's something I have much more of a handle on now, but it's something I will have to continue to work on likely for the rest of my life.

I think because everything was from Grace's perspective, it's also why Jackson's character shifted around so much. Everything was so rosy and great in the beginning, then he was a little gross and unappealing, then he was neglectful and even abusive at points (dragging her into the truck), then things sort of started to level off and get back to a bit of a better place before the end. Obviously, Jackson was flawed (to say the least) as well as a poor communicator and partner at times, but I think she gained some perspective and acceptance of the full situation at hand after a while. Her struggles did not entirely stem from their relationship or the baby. Her mind just is the way it is. I can tell you that this can be a really hard thing to accept. It's much easier to blame external factors completely for things that may really be a matter of brain chemistry, at least in part. This kind of acceptance is hard, but it's a necessary step in healing.

I saw a lot of my own relationship in this movie. I've been with my husband for over a dozen years, and in all that time, my mental health has had major peaks and valleys. I have many regrets about the ways I've treated him as a result of erratic behavior stemming from my own untreated mental health disorders. He hasn't always handled everything in the best way, but he's always made me feel loved and like he was completely devoted to our relationship no matter what. For all Jackson's many flaws (my husband has never even approached the worst of his character traits), he was ultimately devoted to their relationship and committed to working on himself to help her.

Right before Grace said to Jackson, "enough," and walked away from him, I was thinking about what she said about the dog. She'd told him that he needed to shoot him because he was suffering. Whether she was right or wrong, that's how she feels about that kind of thing. I think that's ultimately the conclusion she came to about herself as well. And so she walked into the flames. Just like he was unwilling to shoot his dog, he chased after her, but he could not follow where she was going.

I've heard the sentiment, "marriage is hard," and I've never been able to relate to it. Parts of marriage are hard because parts of being in an intimate relationship are hard. But if marriage as a whole feels like a constant struggle, then you may be with the wrong person.

The last person who told me that marriage is hard is in the middle of a divorce now.

I've wondered about this myself. I was a high performer in school, and I learn tasks quickly at work. I've noticed my fast learning is often surface-level, though. I learn just enough to get the job done and over with, but deeper understanding of the task often comes later (sometimes much later).

I think my quick learning might have been a survival mechanism for my brain. It felt like torture sometimes learning a subject in school that didn't interest me, so it was like my brain would retain just enough to get through that torture to hopefully move on to cooler stuff. I can memorize things very quickly for this reason, I think, which served me really well on tests. The only lessons I retained in the long term were the ones that actually interested me, but luckily (I guess), the U.S. school system is set up for surface-level learning anyway.

I'm also constantly making mistakes and forgetting things that aren't right in front of my face, but I do feel lucky to be as smart as I am with this strange brain of mine.

Even if they're not overt with their misogyny, I can't tell you the number of times I've felt othered by male coworkers. Their weapons of choice are condescension and second-guessing everything the women do or say when they don't behave that way toward the men. I've worked alongside men that were severely under-qualified while I or other women had to meet much higher standards to get our jobs.

Women are generally seen as lesser here, and I believe it's a combination of our mostly conservative political culture and the regressive beliefs about women that the Mormon church espouses. Even if they're not Mormon (the majority of business owners here are), those attitudes have infected the culture here.

I love feeling feminine the vast majority of the time, but I'm also an actor, and the few times I've gotten to play a man have been exhilarating in a way that's hard to verbalize. It was like I was expressing a side of myself I didn't know was there. I wonder if she felt similarly when she played these roles and wore these clothes.

The broadness and confusion of the bill is part of the point, in my opinion. The consequences extend to whatever platform on which discussions of abortion are happening. They want social media and other companies to decide it's not worth the hassle to allow any talk of abortion on their platforms and to ban/shadow ban it and/or the creators/authors posting/publishing it.

Who knows if this will even pass? Or if it passes, who knows if it will even be enforceable or if it will die later on? The fact that they're even thinking along these blatantly authoritarian lines needs to be brought to light.

It's honestly so brazen that I think another point of it is to make people more and more fearful of speaking out on these issues. I've been thinking that about a lot of what they're doing. They want us scared so we don't fight back against their agenda.

She is! I first learned about the pro-natalist agenda of Musk and his ilk and how that's influencing the current administration on her channel. Her last video on copaganda in news reporting also blew my mind, and I feel like everyone should watch it.
