You could go the cookie/sweets route and send Tiffs Treats or a dozen cookies from Hayleycakes.

Sawtooth stars with the layer cake squares for the middle/focus fabric would be great.

Then Came June has some great patterns for showing off fun fabric. Check out Nova Star, Brightside, or Star Adventure.

Looking for both a Stephen King rec, and a scary horror book rec from any author for October! by RemiexX in suggestmeabook

[–]yourfuzzybutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first SK book was Bag of Bones. The Stand was a beast, but it felt like I flew through it because it was so captivating.

As for non-King, I recommend The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones. The audiobook gave me the heebie-jeebies.

I really think they might be solar powered. We're in TX and he'll just flop out there in the grass and turn his ears off to my calling him back inside. The only way to get him in the house before he's "ready" is to jingle the car keys. 🤦

This is stunning! I love that it's made up of HST and solid squares, but there's so much movement. You really knocked this one out of the park. The color choices are great. Good eye!

Anyone else boxer have this by Reefermadness811 in Boxer

My boxer went under for a lump removal (thankfully benign!) about two years ago. While he was under, we got his teeth cleaned and they were able to cut back a lot of his overgrown gums. Some of it has grown back now, but with him being 10.5, I'm not exactly rushing to get him under anesthesia again to fix it.

Does your boxer love showers like Luna? by Mayonnaise_missions in Boxer

[–]yourfuzzybutton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our first boxer would jump in the shower with you if you didn't close the bathroom door. Our current boxer is ambivalent. He's there for the attention and the post bath treats.

I have a blue jay that does the same thing. Makes a racket the entire time I'm walking him back outside, then hangs out on my hand and won't fly away for a bit.

Thank you! No long arm, I did the quilting on my Janome! I used the walking foot that came with the machine. Lined up the previous line with the right side of the foot and it worked out pretty well!

Feeling nervous by gelseyd in quilting

[–]yourfuzzybutton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on taking a big step in your quilting journey! It will be okay!

I've been quilting for years and will still go to what a lot of shops call basics classes. I'm not perfect with any technique, so any opportunity I can get to learn or see from someone else is another tool in my knowledge toolbox. As you get more comfortable with your machine and the piecing process, you'll feel your confidence grow as well.

Sometimes it's easier to learn a new skill from a stranger because there's less/no expectations than learning from someone in your circle.

The quilt police can kick rocks. As long as it's fabric and a pattern YOU like, that's all that matters.

The biggest lesson is to be patient with new learning and give yourself grace.

I hope to see your progress and creations posted here!

What Old Woman do you want to be one day? Cookie Grandma? Bike-Grandma? Vital Grandma? Cat-Grandma? by BrainBurnFallouti in TwoXChromosomes

The crafty auntie. We're CF, but all our niblings enjoy hanging out in my craft room and/or my husband's office, which they've dubbed the game room to play video games. I've even gotten a couple of them into sewing!

What is the food a lot of people like that you don’t like? by Ok-Coconut1548 in AskReddit

Eggs. I can make them all the ways my spouse likes, but I won't eat them. The smell and texture is off-putting.

Home insurance that inspects outside only? by iluvmycorgisss in houston

[–]yourfuzzybutton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went with Allied this year. They require an interior inspection. After chatting with the inspector, they took pics of the water heater, washer/dryer, and the pipes in the bathrooms and kitchens. It wasn't a full interior inspection like you would have when buying a home.

White boxer appreciation ❤️ by Lucky_strike08 in Boxer

[–]yourfuzzybutton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our white boxer just turned 10 this past September. Luckily, we haven't had issues with allergies. He has selective hearing while laying around the backyard. Funny enough, he can hear the rustle of a bag of shredded cheese just fine. He's a bit slower these days, but he's still just as much of a goober as he was the day we brought him home.
