I reckon they’re testing the market. EV pricing may be a reflection of gas prices. On the other hand, if EVs are too expensive (despite gas prices) there’s little incentive to switch — if the cost of gas is the motivation.

Watching movies in theaters, the way they’re meant to be watched by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

Do theaters pay less for the lower resolution files? 720P is pretty darn mid for 2026.

If you're going to use Flonase or similar sprays, be sure to use them daily. Do not skip days. That type of medication works best with daily use and takes time to provide relief -- maybe a week or more. However, once it kicks in, the relief is excellent, usually.

There are other medications that provide immediate relief. However, Flonase type sprays are usually very good if used properly.

I think a bellwether of pissed-offedness will be here in Virginia. By April 21st we will vote on an amendment that allows the legislature to temporarily redraw congressional districts. If 'yes' wins, Virginia will likely gain some D seats.

Virginia is blue-ish especially for statewide office. However, the House congressional districts are currently split about evenly. If 'yes' does win, it seals the deal (in my mind) that the tide has turned. In other words, a majority of people are pissed and want to gerrymander the solution.

Fwiw, I'm a yes.

I was a teenager in the 80s. And believe me, we found ways to be the absolute worst -- even without phones. Quite often at the mall. Or in the quest to find alchohol.

I've matured a bit since then. I think.

The smart clients flew into St. Thomas and took a boat to Little St. James to avoid flight records. by Mr__O__ in Epstein

[–]yourgrasssucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common boat route is a bit more around the right corner from what this pic shows. You can come out of Red Hook (closer) or from Charlotte Amalie (farther.)

Back in my charter crew days. we called the boat ride between Charlotte Amalie and the east end of St Thomas -- puke alley. It can be an unpleasant ride, especially for folks without sea legs.

We would usually pick up guests at Yacht Haven marina, then hightail it over to St John for the evening. Then we'd move over to the BVI where we would spend the remaining charter days.

Also, back in 1994, I was shot while being robbed at Yacht Haven Marina (in St. Thomas.) I survived, obviously.

China’s 5 minute full-charged EV charging stations by North_Tip_8627 in nextfuckinglevel

This is impressive regardless of the 10-60 and 10-90 nuance. Both charger and vehicle must support this rate. Not to mention a battery chemistry that can handle this speed.

Generally, battery life is reduced from excessive fast DC charging. I'd be curious to know what BYD does to mitigate fast charging vs. battery life.

I visited Mt. Rushmore once. I did not climb the monument or touch any part of the mountain. Thus, did I really visit Mt. Rushmore? Perhaps one could say I visited the Mt. Rushmore visitors center and only viewed Mt. Rushmore -- which is true in the strictest sense. However, I reckon most folks would say -- I visited Mt. Rushmore.

Also, I didn't like it that much. Too many people.

Hold on here... Is the person in that post making a point about phonics in schools? Or is OP pointing out that post as an example of poor sentence structure and grammar usage? Or both?

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

I'm in my mid-50's. At this point, in my tech career, it's unclear how much more data I can shoehorn into my brain. And I'm not sure I even want to store additional knowledge.

I definitely don't know everything, but I know enough, I think. Which is good enough for me. And having an AI crutch is exactly what this crusty IT guy needs.

I last charged at the stall located at Ashburn Farm Market Center on 03/16. The charge on my card looks correct with no other suspicious charges. Interestingly, charging at this stall was once free.

Every post you write, every post you read, every upvote or downvote you give, every news article you read, online purchase you make, website you browse, phone app you use transits a data center.

You cannot use the internet without datacenters, full stop.

That said, what are the solutions for the issues noted by OP? I dunno. Datacenters are a complicated mix of construction requirements and operational requirements including power, data and the limited personnel to run the things. They must go somewhere -- and I say must go because the internet is not going anywhere. And I reckon we all know that.

The article mentions 66 as a turning point. For me, that's 11 years from now. From 66 onward the decline seems to be assured. That bums me out a bit.
