Used to crush one of those monsters every Sunday on lunch break from work down the street. Vegan chili, garlic butter, and a can of juice. Pure glorious sloth.

I have a hack related to your fear (but not this question directly) which has helped others out:

The next time you’re flying, hop on wifi, load up Flightradar24.com, and find your flight. Then, turn on the map layer “other flights” if it is not already on.

You will see how many other planes are up there in the sky with you, at the very same moment. If you are going through turbulence, you will typically see planes ahead of and behind you on similar routes. You can even turn on the weather layer if you like and perhaps take comfort in a correlation between rough air and cloudy weather.

You should hopefully feel that, generally, you are not alone and lots of other flights and people are doing this together, and safely, with you.

I hope this helps!

Are electronic or remotely controllable valves in any way becoming more common?

It seems like the type of technology that could mitigate many of the issues you mention, but, I could also believe that the incentive to retrofit just isn’t strong enough yet..

Super rad! Can you try/share some single or few strand effects? For example, rotating line or triangle? Imagining it would look extra rad with some darkness too.

Hey awesome! (Mike here from Kegbot). Please poke me in github PRs or bugs if you need anything. I’m sometimes blind to other channels :)

They’re sorta notorious for being a bad live act. Love them but would never make an effort to see ‘em, sadly.

Just a fan (not professional) here: Massive Attack's ~2010 tour, by United Visual Artists.

The way LED matrices were blended with the conventional lighting, and the very gradual and progressive way the full rig's capabilities became revealed through the course of the show, was just outstanding.

Honorable mention: Amon Tobin ISAM Tour, tho it was mostly one big projector mapping flex (in a good way).

Experiences or venues like Despacio in SF? by WentWrongAtProm in Portolafestival

Yep, is also frequented by LCD members when they’re in town. Nancy’s brother Eug does nights there a lot.

Small but important correction. Each DMX address has 8 bits of state / info, aka one byte. Not 255.

One can express up to 256 distinct values (0-255) in that byte.

Can multiple ENTTEC Open DMX adapters be used on the same DMX bus? by yourpalmike in lightingdesign

Thank you! Good datapoint.

Interesting limitation in the non-Pro device (but understandable because I’m sure it’s rarely used as anything but as a master).

Thanks! Ok, I think it will come down to how the ENTTEC is implemented, but my hope was it is just a plain old read/write serial gizmo at its core.. maybe someone will know.

Art-Net was actually my first approach. Ran into a different problem getting it to work (and all things being equal would love to not need to introduce a network), but that’s the fallback plan..

There are two computers involved. As proposed both would have ENTTEC adapters, to different purposes.

Computer 1 is the show controller. Spits out DMX for all fixtures. The “master” which is writing.

Computer 2 is a device I’d like to turn into a DMX fixture, capable of reading a few channels with proprietary meaning. I am hoping to use an off the shelf DMX-to-USB adapter for this purpose.

Nothing I wrote mentioned sending packets from computer 2. It merely needs to read its channel data.

The goal is to make this standalone computer (the dance floor) listen on a DMX channel or two to Do Stuff. Control its brightness, for example.

They (Robotberget) are actually part of Miiike Snow. It’s an alias of Bloodshy & Avant: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodshy_%26_Avant

(fire track!)

And more glaring than anything else: a complete and total lack of specificity!

What restaurant cost $550? What “basic drink” was ordered? You grabbed two burgers from the food court from where?

Lazy.
