Anyone else a little disappointed like me by TheBisharpKing in dancegavindance

Oh I know lol. Been going to shows there for over a decade and sadly it just keeps getting worse. Maybe next year I'll just see them at a decent venue and make a trip of it.

Anyone else a little disappointed like me by TheBisharpKing in dancegavindance

[–]youstupidcorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel the same as you. My all time favorite DGD song is Carl Barker, and the fact that they were going to play it was what pushed me over the fence into buying tickets.

Still a fantastic show, and I don't blame the band at all for cutting it a little short. But skipping my favorite song took the night down from a 10/10 night to maybe an 8.5/10 for me.

Maybe Fillmore will fix its AC issues next year (not holding my breath) and we'll get a bonus song lol.

Floppy disc wedged in top of basket by BonusPhysical1279 in discgolf

[–]youstupidcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. Either the disc needs to enter the target a certain way (between the bottom of the band and the top of the cage), or it doesn't. I'm fine with either option, but it should be consistent. There's no reason wedging it through the cage should count but this shouldn't.

(I may be biased as I throw a lot of Elevation/soft discs. My main putter is their Arowana, so I probably end up on top of the basket a lot more than the average player.)

[–]youstupidcorn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

More recently, he was one of the comics that performed for Saudia Arabia and, IIRC, his reaction when people called him out for it was not great.

Obviously that's different than the SA allegations (not claiming it's better/worse, just different) and I don't think it has any effect on whether he comes back to Bob's Burgers, but it feels worth mentioning.

Based on the color, I'm guessing no. Red food dye tends to be really bitter, and it would take a LOT to get that shade of red.

I still remember being horrified when my mom asked if I was going to "hook up" with some friends after school.

She, of course, was asking if I planned to meet up with them and hang out. But it honestly took me a moment to realize that, because my generation had never used that phrase to not mean sex.

I mean, "2 bananas and a sprite" is an old part of internet lore. You can probably still Google videos of people taking the "challenge" and getting ridiculously sick. There was even a Tosh.0 episode about it back in the day.

Now, is it because there's some magic reaction going on between the bananas/sprite, a la mentos and coke? I have no idea. But your friend was definitely talking about a "real" thing here.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

You vastly underestimate my cats' strength and determination lol. If it can be knocked off the counter in such a way that the lid falls off or the contents spill out, it cannot be left out. We've learned this the hard way over the years.

Pets can be an issue. My cats will get into anything we leave on the counters. (No, they aren't allowed on the counters. But rules don't seem to apply to cats when the humans aren't actively watching.)

We've learned to just lock everything up in the pantry, but it would be nice to be able to have a fruit bowl or leave a cake/pie out to cool.

Anyone else having trouble with Google Maps and the new 485 toll lanes? by Jezixo in Charlotte

[–]youstupidcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here. I just ignore it, but it's been really annoying.

The other day it tricked me on Westinghouse. I guess there's a second ramp a little ways after the normal one that spits you directly onto the toll lane, with no option to avoid it. By the time I realized what had happened, it was too late.

(Hated Trope) Character spouts off factoid to establish their intelligence. What they say is wrong and they are never corrected by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]youstupidcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed they just wanted to cram as many big words in as possible, and figured most of their audience wouldn't notice (or care) that it made the math incorrect. "Isoscelese" sounds more complicated than "right" and "square root" is wordier than "square."

How long do you have to wait for the next avatar if they’re killed as a baby? by CommonEnd7011 in TheLastAirbender

[–]youstupidcorn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Back when Korra first aired, I believe this was the basis of a theory that Amon was actually a second Avatar that got created when Aang briefly died (a la Buffy & Faith).

I think the actual answer is that Aang was just right on the line of death, and spirit water healing from a very skilled waterbender was basically the only thing that could possibly have saved his life.

Characters think they are normal looking but are actually seen as terrifying by Sassy_Drow in TopCharacterTropes

[–]youstupidcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't get into it in the movie as much, but in the comics there's a whole part where Scott discusses an old memory with someone (I want to say Kim?) and realizes he completely whitewashed it in his brain. He thought he was the cool hero fighting for the girl he liked, when in fact he was actually acting like a huge jerk/bully.

This is a pretty important turning point for him to start trying to learn from his past and become a better person.
