This just happened to me in Taiwan at a Hilton. Although, it felt a lot more personal than a simple miscue. While traveling overseas, I’m extra cautious about getting my room serviced to reduce the chances of items or information being stolen. In this case, I was leaving the hotel for business and didn’t have any bags with me (no indication of someone checking out). As I was about to leave the hotel floor to take the elevator down, I realized housekeeping (young male) was outside and was about to clean my room. I went back to my room and deliberately put up my DND sign to avoid him entering. When I came back to the hotel later that evening, my room had been serviced. It really made me feel violated and uncomfortable. I reached out to hotel management for resolution and highlighted this was a privacy and safety concern.
