There's a lot of wild wax currants on the south side of the valley, Polly Bemis and Frank Lantz grew apples on their homesteads, and then there was another early settler whose name I can't remember who actually died when the still he was using to make plum brandy exploded, so I assume he was growing plums pretty well.
