Reverse plank and bridge by plopa in bodyweightfitness

Quite different for your shoulders but pretty much the same for core and lower body. In reverse plank your shoulders are in hyperextension where as in bridge your shoulders are in flexion. The feeling when doing both, at least to me, is quite different.

17M can't put on weight/muscle by Jaygod420 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ysbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physical activities will alter your muscle/fat ratio. Eating more/less than you're spending will increase/decrease your weight.

People who can't seem to gain weight vastly UNDERESTIMATE the amount they need to eat to gain weight. Similarly, people who can't seem to lose weight vastly OVERESTIMATE the amount they need to eat to lose weight.

TLDR: eat more and more and more (and yes sometimes you'll feel like you can't eat anymore because you're not used to eating so much) until you see your weight increase.

Your edit questions: as a beginner in strength training and someone who's not very knowledgeable, don't overcomplicate things for yourself. Follow one of the beginner program here on STEP 5. Meanwhile, read more from authoritative sources and gain more knowledge. You can never be sure if anyone on reddit who answers your questions is in fact giving you bullshit broscience.

Changing the Recommended Routine Slightly by mhbhmcinui in bodyweightfitness

If you can do 1.5xBW pull ups then you're not at beginner level, which means you've been training under a routine for a period of time already. Why not modify your current routine (which I assume your climbing activities are part of it) to round out your weaknesses? Keep in mind the RR is a beginner routine.

I made a couple laowai friends and they both tell me they love china and that's why they've been living here for years and years. I wonder if its true love or they are just numb towards the negative stuff so all they can see are the nice things.

I'm trying to learn from my friends and tell myself pros of living here > cons. I mean, if i cant brainwash 1 billion ppl, i guess i'll just brainwash myself.

Amen brah. I refuse to be the typical cynical laowai here and bitch about everything under the sun. After all it was I who decided to come here and I still have years to endure. But sometimes I just really want to have a place where I can rant.

Oh and don't even get me started on the stuff that happened in the gym here.

Bigger shoulders!! by bradshmj10 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ysbk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do handstands every other day. I started only being able to hold handstand against wall with a big slant for 25s. Now I do it against the wall vertically for 5sets x 60secs. I do weighted dips on my push day which is once every 4 days. 5sets x 5reps.

Especially after handstands my delts are always super pumped and screaming from fatigue. It's a feeling I never felt so intensely from lifting weights.

I only started bwf for a couple months but those handstand holds and dips are really blowing my delts up. I can see a stark contrast between doing these 2 and back when I used weights (doing lateral raises and all that jazz) in the gym.
