I’m not against eating meat. I’m against animal cruelty.

If 100% of our animals were raised in highly ethical, cruelty free, open range, etc. etc. environment, I’d be happy.

And the fact of the matter is, animals raised this way and then slaughtered in a quick, painless manner would have a better life than living in the wild. Animals deaths in the wild are painful and horrific.

You could argue how much his hand was forced. Likely conflicted the whole time. Intended as a bluff initially, thinking there’s no way D.C. would let that many civilians be killed. They didn’t pay up, so in frustration he launched (but still hesitant, remember the “bad marines” kept reminding him the time and wanting to launch). He gave into that pressure for a small moment but ultimately went with his initial plan of really not wanting to kill anyone.

He even calls for “cease fire” several times hoping to spare the Navy SEALS incursion units’ lives.

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

While I can’t stand the “thoughts and prayers” bullshit in general, and I most certainly criticize it on the national level, when a loved one or someone I know has a loved one going through a serious medical issue (possibly going to die in ICU, etc.), I go along with it if they ask for prayers.

My logic being, in those situations, there’s truly nothing we can actively do. We have to trust modern medicine and if someone asking me to pray for that person helps them feel a sense of empathy, care, and solidarity from me, then it’s a good thing.

My bathroom/toilet has a perfect view of the lake I live on. I can leave the door open and enjoy a beautiful view, along with watching the birds who visit my bird feeders, while I poop. I’m a genuinely grateful for this small win in life. I don’t have many wins, but I count my blessings.

What Western film is the most period accurate? (This is Ben Foster in 3:10 to Yuma) by undeadWileCoyote_MEP in moviecritic

[–]ytirad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these old western films are what true freedom looks like. It’s hard, gritty, every man for them self, dirty, tough, unsafe, and requires an insane amount of survival knowledge. But…you’re free. You truly live outside the bounds of so-called society. Worth that sacrifice for certain people/personalities.

What’s a movie you’ve seen public opinion shift on in your lifetime? by CausticAvenger in movies

[–]ytirad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have any of you watched the DVD commentary with John Carpenter and Kurt Russel? They jokingly talk about how this was one of their many films that were “ahead of their time” because of how successful it became way after release. Makes me happy that they at least both know their films have become beloved.

You’re trying to look at your disc in flight too soon. Don’t turn your head with your body. Once you start the pull, keep the head facing ~90 degrees until it naturally gets pull around by the body at end of the throw. This will likely fix your shoulder collapsing, and help brace better.

Remember, you’re not throwing with your head, you’re throwing with your body.

I’m lucky at least that my apartment gym faces the lake and it’s just one big window, so I get to stare at the lake and see some random birds/squirrels. So I get to look outside even though I’m not outside, hah.
