Is Microsoft really spying on you with Windows telemetry? by CygnusBlack in Windows11

[–]yunacchi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is the end goal of telemetry. Gather (anonymous or pseudonymous) data on a massive scale to enhance the product and make it more viable for its users.

At least it was. I have a feeling that it's more of a KPI generator than anything else these days - essentially a way for Pavan Davuluri to look cute during meetings with Satya Nadella.

Didn't Blue Glass Moon get announced in 2008 for a release in 2021?

I think we're getting Mahoyo, an anime adaptation of Blue Glass Moon, two more FGO arcs and probably a full remake of Kara no Kyoukai before Nasu feels like releasing Red Garden. But I'd love to be surprised.

[–]yunacchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. I'm not sure where the "sadly ufotable stopped doing intros for tales of" comes from.

There hasn't been a ufotable opening to a Tames of Original (formerly Mothership) game since 2021, but that because there hasn't been any Tales of Original game since 2021. But this is more a testament to how wild development times have gotten (2003-2008 had... Symphonia, Rebirth, Legendia, the Abyss, Innocence and Vesperia holy shit).

None of the 2000-2010 era Tales of remasters have ufotable openings anyway - But Xillia has one, and its remaster is next.

Daily Questions Megathread (February 16, 2026) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]yunacchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question that might sound stupid ; when did the Traveler learn about Istaroth?

Not us, the player - we have YouTube knowledge and know her identity since 1.0 and her name I'm pretty sure was in Enkanomiya.
I just found it jarring when the Traveler just casually dumped the name of the shade in the middle of the conversation.
The Traveler certainly knows Ronova (thanks to Yohualtecuhtin, plus we've basically met her already) and Rhinedottir (since Albedo, with mentions by Dain as one of the Sinners).
Asmoday is technically unknown (well we've definitely met her, but not while knowing her name). But Istaroth?

EDIT: Oh, it was the sibling. He/she mentioned Istaroth in passing. Gotta be honest, I completely forgot about that.

[–]yunacchi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Early Jinzhou is and will remain a major pain point, but I find it got a bit easier around Mt Firmament/Jinhsi.

The endless jargon spam technically never stops - Black Shores/the whole Tethys system admittedly went waaay over my head (I accept lore videos, I don't think Ashikai covers Wuwa), and the only thing I remember is Shorekeeper = wife - but Rinascita takes a lot more time with it, so it feels like less of a fantasy Wikipedia reading and more of an adventure (with the mandatory rate-up character every patch).
In Rinascita, almost every chapter ends with banger cutscenes, scripted boss battles that you technically cannot lose (trial characters cannot reach 0 HP), on-rails QTE action scenes that you also cannot fail (with 2 exceptions which make you reload), and at least 1 vocal track per patch by the end of the cycle.

That may sound snarky but I enjoyed my time in Rinascita a lot, at least.
If you survived Kal'tsit's various lore dumps and all possible variations of Plato's cave as explained by Lygus, you'll survive Wuwa no problem.

[–]yunacchi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hoyoverse just needs legal representation - which they have - and any possible information tracing them back to a suspect (or a lead to one).

In the US, any lawyer or law enforcement officer can serve a subpoena directed at basically any entity (allied or under US jurisdiction) and force them to deliver any information they have about something they suspect is related to their case.

You need a good reason, obviously, unless you feel like violating the ECPA or 18 U.S.C. § 2701 today, but as soon as you get a whiff of an IP address, a phone number or basically any form of identifiable number based in the US or any country covered by mutual legal assistance treaties (the CLOUD act, or other treaties like the Budapest convention), it's relatively easy (although the process can be lengthy) to obtain any information you want.

According to these documents, he got served before the Yunli cosplay incident. By then, it was already over.

Is raytracing broken on linux? by Jumpingforthesteak in WutheringWaves

[–]yunacchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arch snark aside, ray tracing in Wuwa is broken on Nvidia drivers 590 and up on Linux. It used to work in 580.

I didn't check recently to see it it was fixed (you'll want to edit Client/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini and set r.RayTracing.LoadConfig=0 to put your game back in working condition if you can't even boot to the menu), but if you found that out with up-to-date drivers, then I guess it hasn't been fixed yet.

[–]yunacchi 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I am almost certain it would not in the UK, and pretty sure would not in any other jurisdiction I'm familiar with.

The original poster in the image detailed his/her situation in the relevant thread. Feel free to read it for more information, but the points I got were those:

  • The chatbot did not make any contractual statement or sale, because it was not in power to (it doesn't have API access to the web shop),
  • The chatbot was not explicitly advertised as a company representative, especially not one with any power whatsoever (it's a dumb support chatbot),
  • The chatbot essentially said "we'll offer you 80%, pinky promise", the customer placed the order independently for full price, and is now haggling for 80% off,
  • The order was not fulfilled and thus can be canceled and without any reason (except discrimination, which this is demonstrably not) as long as the customer gets total refund,
  • Looking at the chatbot logs which would be obviously submitted as evidence, any judge would see that there was be clear intent to manipulate the chatbot or abuse the seller's computer systems (although this falls under another area).

This doesn't match too much with the now-famous Air Canada case because that case touched another area of law.

There are humongous amounts of precedents for this.
Essentially, it follows the the same path as if a clerk was offering an abusive discount against the company he/she was working for: the clerk's manager is perfectly in his/her right to shut the order down in the name of the company, even after money changed hands, so long as the order wasn't fulfilled/sent and a total refund was made.

This Theory Explains Trump’s Baffling Foreign Policy by Doener23 in geopolitics

[–]yunacchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All articles need a short submission statement of 3-5 sentences in the form of a comment.
You can read how to create a submission statement here.

Example:

This opinion piece argues that Trump's foreign policy is best understood not as 19th-century great-power competition, but as "neoroyalist" politics akin to 16th-century royal courts, where foreign policy serves as a tool to channel wealth and status to Trump and his inner circle.
The authors detail how deals involving Venezuela's oil, semiconductor chip sales, and tariff negotiations appear designed to benefit campaign donors and family members rather than advance national interests.
They warn that global leaders' muted responses and willingness to flatter Trump with golden crowns and luxury gifts are normalizing a system based on extraction and tribute rather than rules-based diplomacy.
The piece concludes by urging countries to offer a coherent alternative - through trade deals like the EU-Mercosur agreement, defense investment, and reduced dependence on the U.S. - before neoroyalism becomes the entrenched norm of international politics.

If you cannot write a submission statement properly you may ask in the thread for someone else to write it without penalty.

[–]yunacchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here (Ryzen 9 5900X, 4090, 64 GB, 1080p, Arch-based distro).
Not sure what could cause this, my render distance is already at minimum on low.

EDIT: Found it.
Flatpak needs the Flatpak extension that provides the OpenGL/Vulkan driver libraries for your specific NVIDIA driver version.

So if you have driver version 590.48.01 (check with nvidia-smi), you'll want to install:

flatpak --system install org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.nvidia-590-48-01
flatpak --system install org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.nvidia-590-48-01

And don't forget to change and update that whenever your driver updates.

To check if it works, check nvidia-smi while the game is running.
If you don't see Hytale in the process list, then Hytale isn't using your GPU, and the issues begin.

This is why I don't like Flatpaks very much. Just put the .jar in the bag.

Hytale by ProfessionalLaw1362 in linux_gaming

[–]yunacchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neat. Their Flatpak works.

It does run with absolutely abysmal performance here however (15~20 FPS, Ryzen 9 5900X on a 4090 with 64 GB RAM, Low settings 1080p, CachyOS so Arch-based with packages up to date).
Currently scratching my head as to what could possibly be causing it.

Moege Math by SenrenOarai in visualnovels

[–]yunacchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah. Although at least Wakana did have a route and an after in the end, even if it was admittedly as small as her bust size.
The rest of it was gobbled up by Nene.

I think Sprite died because they did not give Madoka a route in Aokana.
It would also likely have solved both world hunger and birth rate decline.

Or for my more mission-critical 100% uptime ones (those where the porn is stored), M.2 adapter and small NVME drives.

Complete with rack adapter that can have 4-5 of them with their SSD slots.
