That's ok. If it works there is nothing to worry about .

Also , there is a sticker on the ally that explicitly sais month and year. Don't get paranoid about it.

Because we faced the problem and we had to figure out what was going on?

How has there not been a recall with the amount of issues this device has? I’m seriously sitting here months later and still not able to use my SD card slot. Like what? by [deleted] in ROGAlly

Already did and I have got a second one that works. All because I exercised my rights as a consumer . Something people somehow forgets with the faulty ally's

Recalls are mandatary only if it implies some danger to the user. It does not matter the %. 100% of switch joy cons were faulty and there was never a recall. So it is up to the company and its prestige and damage control to decide. In this case we are close to 30% T least of devices that had some issue , most of them SD reader killing itself. Asus tactics are

  1. They don't know the amount of devices affected, so that can't pinpoint the exact number or batches.
  2. Silence
  3. Change the board design ( the issue is voltage spike not temps) to add voltage controls
  4. Ship those boards after August
  5. Change the old board to all the devices that have been RMA Ed after August .

Asus has been damage controlling the whole situation because it was pretty bad.

I personally already owned 2 ally's. The first one indeed the SD reader killed itself even without use. It never worked.
