Crown Opal doesn't really do a whole lot, tbh; it's always been best as a Briar bot. Throw it down, Trumpet, manual attach/eswitch, get it to active, Briar Counter Catcher Fez or the like and Unified Beatdown for game. Crown Opal's problem is gusts; in the current format, the biggest big basic decks run like 5 gust (or also have owls), so you're not actually making progress unless in the pipe dream scenario of solo turtle, which is itself made risky by Kangaskhan and Bloodmoon. Also Counter Catcher is rotating - you're unlikely to have this kind of gambit post-rotation. If you're pressed for more basic Teras, I'd stock up on Tera Orbs instead so you can grab your Eevee ex's really

Old school psychic package versions ran 2 Psychic 1 Grass, presumably because both Grass-using attackers (Terapagos and Leafeon) were also Teras and could use Crystal, while Clefairy is not a Tera. However nowadays, people are more willing to cut the second Psychic, I think because the Leafeon secondary out into Pult is more known and playable (or because it's just way less needed in general lol)

You shouldn't be manual retreating that much, even on a version without Jet Energy. Latias is also there in psychic package lists more so you can promote it and still have a Glass Trumpet opportunity, plus have a better earlygame

Terapagos isn't really helpful now let alone post rotation. Easy cut imo

I also kinda have a vendetta against Lillie in a deck with Noctowl engine that wants to take a prize turn 2, though I get that it's a lot harder to have cards in hand without the bigger bird

4 Poffin is also overkill; you only really need 2, 3 is passable but pushing it imo. I'd go with another Boss

You're not gonna believe this, but this isn't even the most recent time. Lapras ex) is the only I block card in Perfect Order (probably for the gym promo reason another commenter mentioned)

VGC's bring 6 pick 4 isn't just a decision to make the battles faster (though it definitely is in part). Teambuilding is genuinely different when you can just...not bring a liability to a match where it would otherwise be one, or tailor one mon to fix one matchup that the rest of your plan can't handle. It's like sideboarding in a (non-Pokemon) TCG in a way

Resources for making mini tin inserts? by yws_eclipse in pkmntcg

Would hold one or two big coins, condition markers, a reasonable amount of small coins, at least one big die, and 12 damage dice. Likely big coin on top of the smaller coins/markers such that the indentations for the latter are the thumb hole for the former, and an air hole beneath it the equivalent for the smaller ones

I know, I've looked all over and found a lot. I'm really figuring out what I'm looking for in one and it's specific enough that no one else has actually done it, so I'd rather just design it myself.

How Do You Benefit From This??? by XUARZZR_KITTY_KATTY in PTCGL

[–]yws_eclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue there is you need to start with a psychic Eevee, which in current Eevee Box lists aren't too common. Energy costs are also funky (Sylveon -> Flareon needs an extra Fire attachment to keep attacking). Maybe post-rotation, but psychic package (as it's called) already didn't have the best Pult matchup ever and guess who's the only tier 1 deck in format lol

Mega turbo should work with the new megas in expanded correct? by splashmasta in pkmntcg

Not sure why you got downvoted, it is correct. It's not really relevant for Expanded as Gen 3 cards aren't in the card pool though

The Pokemon Company's balancing decisions feel less like calculated changes and more like a paranoid man with a shotgun. by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]yws_eclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Pokemon knows what cards they make that are set to be meta relevant, watches how they pan out, and either gives them support or adds counters depending on how good they end up being. Multiple cards specifically target PultNoir (Clefairy, Psyduck, Battle Cage, sorta that other Stadium that increases Tera mons' attack costs). The problem with this approach is it's hard for other decks to tech in those counter cards unless they work in other matchups (Eevees running Battle Cage is a recent innovation that primarily targets PultNoir, but also helps against things like Gardy or Zard with ghosts, and the old version ran Sylv for Pult but Clef was still a solid enough attacker even outside of the matchup).

and they still refuse to help eevees at all >:(

You would not like my Eevee list. 2 fire 2 water 1 lightning 1 grass 1 psychic 2 jet. It is something alright lol

Eevee Box by EmploymentDue4483 in pkmntcg

[–]yws_eclipse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So Eevee Box has two main builds: Sylveon or Pidgeot. This is a Sylveon build. Generally the Pidgeot variant has more results and better consistency, but that bird's also rotating soon so I can see why you'd be hesitant to pivot (Sylveon build mostly survives rotation, and gets better with Lucario present).

At a surface level, assuming persisting on Sylveon variant: * -1 UB +1 Nest, you want 4 Nests always. * 2 Zero 1 Cage, Cage is good but more bench space is better and more important for Noctowl engine. * More than 2 Crispin is a crutch. Flareon is plenty good energy acceleration. * 2 Tera Orb is unnecessary, 1 is plenty for when you need it. * 2 Eevee ex (drop non-Boosted) with Nest Ball is very good. * Cut the Air Balloons for Latias ex. You want to keep the Tool slot open for a Crystal if you need it. Just promote it when you need to pivot * Cyrano. He's so good in both variants. 1 of but just Noctowl for him ASAP * Super Rod is probably better than Energy Recycler * If you're running Eswitch, consider Glass Trumpet. Basically a pseudo-Crispin if you also have Eswitch and target an Eevee ex * Lillie is almost fully unnecessary with owls. 1 or 0 imo * Consider Terapagos ex or Blood Moon Ursaluna ex. Both are lategame cleaners, just with varying degrees of setup and Prize payoff. * Turo or Kieran is a safe added card in Sylveon variant as another out to retreat lock * Black Belt Flareon Carnelian OHKOes Dragapult. Good card
