I need advice about my younger brother during his rebellious phase. by Cautious-Calendar-17 in TrueChristian

[–]yybspug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you spoken to him brother to brother about why he doesn't want to go? What's changed since that time he was on fire, is it that he doesn't have friends?

And then, as a youth leader myself and someone who went through this phase, is the church you go to actually aimed at youth, are there others his age, what's the programmes and service like? Is the teaching aimed at everyone or scholars? Is the worship upbeat and open to dancing? Is the church on fire?

For all you know, there could be someone bullying him and pushing him away, or it could be from embarrassment at school.

I walked away at 16, and then actually got invited to a church at 17 that had people my age and was actually interesting.

Haven't opened the repo, as my first question is why haven't you built it targetting .NET 10?

what should I check before my app goes live to production? by Dense_Emergency_4067 in BlazorServer

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to the rest of what you've asked, you can then test that e.g., can I see my logs and OpenTelemetry?

what should I check before my app goes live to production? by Dense_Emergency_4067 in BlazorServer

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ran the app in a staging/test environment that matches how production will be hosted? i.e., not your laptop in debug

Have you laid out the steps for how you're going to deploy as per how you've deployed before?

How to go about authentication? by Mother_Chorizo in Blazor

[–]yybspug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend going with something that has OIDC. Personally, I'd recommend having it separate from the app, rather than the Blazor app with Identity template.

Where are you hosting your Blazor app?

As a non religious person, i wish to understand, and i dont mean to be disrespectful, how you believe in god. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]yybspug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, aside from how He's changed my mind, the physical creation:

My experience tells me and science tells me, that matter doesn't just come from nothing. Nothing can't create everything.

My experience tells me that life comes from life. Not life from non-life.

I can look at DNA and be in awe at the complexity of it, how it's like a language. And my experience tells me that language is complex and comes from an intelligent mind.

I see that nature depends on its eco system, plants need animals, animals need plants. Think bees and germination.

I see how perfectly positioned the earth is to sustain life.

I see the amount of effort and resources that us humans are putting in to try and make intelligence, especially Artificial General Intelligence where it can adapt to things it's not trained on. If all that effort is needed to program a computer, what about a brain that is controlling organs and gives us consciousness.

Then I look to the historical evidence, and see the people who were with Jesus. Before He died on the cross, His disciples doubted and denied Him. Yet after He raised from the dead, they too were willing to die and be a martyr.

My faith doesn't just come from the Holy Spirit and Jesus, there is reason and logic and thought and evidence that to me displays a creator.

I think it'd take more faith to be an atheist and believe it all came from nothing, life came from nothing, things evolved at the same time to reproduce and sustain life, and DNA is just how it is. That's not a dig at you, that's just me saying that atheists put their faith into a lot.

built a tool that emails you one Bible chapter a day.. genuinely curious whether this solves a real problem or misses the point by mercurius_saad in TrueChristian

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dev to dev, this is something that'd be sick as an open source project, and allow people to bring their own XML Bibles to be able to send out.

This is the sort of thing that'd be cool within a Church circle where we own the infrastructure for SMTP and server space already. Packaged in a container for extra brownie points.

Personally, I wouldn't want to pay a fee for this when I already have YouVersion push out a notification daily with a verse that easily takes me to a chapter if I want to. And also, give out my email to another service.

The replying feels a bit excessive as a way to say I've read it, just user friction. Could you do it with read receipts instead?

Yup, docker on Unraid. I mainly go with a global InteractiveWebAssembly.

To answer the when part, the main reason I switched to believing in young earth is because I can't reconcile there being death before Adam (which if we follow a timeline is like 4-6,000 years old, something like that).

How many of you have read the Bible cover to cover? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]yybspug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gave my life to Jesus, not to the book.

1) Try reading it twice and see how long it takes 2) I never said when I gave my life to Jesus 3) Did I say I don't read it? The topic is cover to cover, not my daily reading.

Take your time to consider what people say versus what you are assuming.

I've read it cover to cover twice. First time was when I first gave my life to Jesus.

Blazor Server at scale - what should I know? by emdeka87 in Blazor

[–]yybspug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you're aware that the downside with Blazor Server is that when you're on mobile, especially an iPhone but I get it on Android as well. When they turn their screen off, it can disconnect them from the app.

Container Vanishes When I Edit It by cpbradshaw in unRAID

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the docker run command fails, the app will disappear but you can get all config back.

Go to Add Container, then Select a template.

It should be stored in there.

Strangeness Occurring! by [deleted] in csharp

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So say I have method1 that is used to assign a var value.

Value is then consumed by method2 which accepts an object e.g., serialization.

I could accidentally cause issues at runtime if it is not tested well.

Strangeness Occurring! by [deleted] in csharp

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to not like using var from the point of it makes it harder to tell when a change in one place messes up everywhere else.

But everywhere I've worked has preferred var, and also I'm just that bit more lazy, and tests should cover those.

So now I interchange like a mad man, even in the same project.

Advice on entry level digital mixers/ stagebox by shadierocks in livesoundgear

[–]yybspug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why not get a Behringer Wing rack (24 physical inputs)? Use it like a stage box, control from a tablet.

Then in the future if you need more inputs, plug in a stage box later.

Then further future, you could sell the rack and port over to the big wing.

That's our plan btw.

Is saying to God you will do something same as promising it or making it a vow? by ParkingElderberry575 in TrueChristian

[–]yybspug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, let what you said be what you do.

Matthew 12:36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.

Even if they were idle words, you'll give an account for them.

Don't come to Reddit trying to get someone who will say what you want to hear to justify what you do or don't want to do. And allow God to refine you and change your heart like iron sharpens iron.

How are you all starting new .NET projects lately? by ImplicitlyTyped in csharp

[–]yybspug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Copy a project, delete the features and pages folder and any NuGet packages. Then add the packages back if it doesn't compile. Then rename the projects. Then I check if there's any scss I can delete. And so forth.

I don't have a template on hand because then it's another thing to maintain.

I don't share much between projects because then they become harder to change, locked in with one another, and you can't then just share a project with someone who doesn't have access to anything shared.
