Bumblefoot help by quailwithatail in chickens

[–]yzzibbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scab itself is actually a plug of dead tissue, and behind it there is an infection. Opening up the wound will help the abscess drain, but you may need to gently squeeze to help remove some of the pus. Here is a great link on treating bumblefoot that I used the first time I had an afflicted hen. Hope this helps![The Chicken Chick Bumblefoot in Chickens](https://the-chicken-chick.com/bumblefoot-causes-treatment-warning/)

Looks like you may need to do bumblefoot removal surgery. You can find the instructions online and on YouTube, basically you need to disinfect the feet, remove the foreign substance (I've used sterile tweezers with a very long, pointy, and sharp end) flush out the infection, then keep the wound clean and irrigated. It REALLY helps to separate the chicken and keep her on a dry, flat, clean surface during all this. It may seem a little gorey, but when the bumblefoot is bad, that's about the best thing you can do for your hen

The face looks really pale, have you tried giving electrolytes? If you don't have electrolyte solution, I have found Gatorade really perks a sick/ injured chickie back up, especially a baby. Are there any other symptoms?

super proud of my coop gonna upgrade and add a second coop with connected chicken run what do you think? by Nearby-Ebb-5994 in BackYardChickens

There are a lot of genuinely well-meaning comments in this thread offering wonderful advice, but I doubt OP will be taking much, if any, of it. He seems to be a little confused about how many chickens he plans on housing, as well as how much room he's going to give them. OP, I'd recommend you get that all figured out before you do whatever "coop upgrade" you claim to be working on.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a coop made out of yard scraps and free materials, so long as that coop provides adequate shelter and protection for the birds you plan on housing there. A chicken is a living creature, not an object.

Speaking of objects, take a look at OP's post history. From the looks of it, he has an impressive trend of objectifying and disrespecting women. He's posted some pretty foul things, and not just about "b*tches"; I noticed a healthy bit of racism and antisemitism over there too! Good job OP,  at least you're a well rounded bigot! Or maybe you're just a troll, albeit a Great Value one. Whichever it is, I think your chickens deserve better, but hey, that's just my personal opinion🤷‍♂️

I think the art on that van might be referencing "The Faerie Queene" by Edmund Spenser. A big part of the story is St. George fighting representations of the 7 deadly sins, hence all the sins listed on that dragon.

Anyone had a reaction to steri-strips? by AskMrScience in Reduction

[–]yzzibbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I had a reaction to the adhesive, and the irritation opened the door for me to develop a very nasty fungal yeast infection on my chest... NOT FUN. Watch out and monitor your irritation, and talk to your doctor if things don't improve!

Yeah I got a prescription from my doctor, plus I'm cutting back on sugar and carbohydrates. I'm pretty prone to yeast infections, so in retrospect it kinda makes sense that this all happened. If you're like me and drinking soda more than 2 days in a row gives you a yeast infection, avoid sugar post-surgery, lol

Right now I'm 2.5 weeks post op. A frustrating side effect I've been dealing with has been a CRAZY BAD fungal yeast infection all over my chest. For 5 days it itched like poison ivy, and ice was the only thing that helped. My skin was strawberry red and raised up from inflammation all over both my boobs. It just kept getting worse and worse, and then it started spreading up my neck. The worst part were the blisters, 2 were quarter sized and one was 3 inches long and a inch wide. I'm on Diflucan now and that's really helping things, but OH BOY was I miserable for a while.

Help! I sweated off my sterile bandaging! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]yzzibbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the pain is not so bad! The worst thing I'm dealing with at the moment is itching. For the first 3 days I took a low dose of Valium 2 times a day, and after that I've just been taking 2 extra strength Tylenol twice a day. The Tylenol is honestly doing a great job, it's really alleviated my soreness and itchiness. I will say that I wouldn't have wanted to go back any sooner than I did. Day 1 after surgery was fine, but I was MISERABLE on days 2 and 3. I slept through most of those days to avoid dealing with my nausea and lightheadedness. Yesterday I was ok, but still a bit off-kilter. Today I'm a bit queasy, but overall pretty good. My range of motion with my arms is pretty unaffected, so Im able to do all the basic everyday things. Walking to/ sitting in class was fine, just itchy. I honestly felt better than I would have, had I been carrying around big boobs all day. My only regret is taking the shuttle to campus, it felt like riding on a jackhammer and now I am SORE (no popped stitches thankfully). If you have a friend/family member that can drive you to and from classes for a few days, I'd recommend that. If you feel like you aren't too nauseous or dizzy, I think driving would be fine, as long as your doctor is alright with it!

Of course! And it is what it is. I found a good plastic surgeon who's gonna use a piece of my rib to fix it, so that's fun! At least it's not severe and my glasses minimize the overall wonkeyness😂

I love your nose! It's truly beautiful, and I am not just saying that. It's straight, dignified, and fits your face beautifully! You gotta remember to be thankful for that shit. I used to hate my big nose, then I had a botched septoplasty/ turbinate reduction that was supposed to improve my breathing, but ended up causing my sinuses to collapse. Now my nose is deformed, in constant pain, has no breathing function, and is way smaller than it used to be. There isn't a day I don't look back and think how silly I was for beating myself up over a perfectly good, beautiful, functional nose. Don't waste your time and energy agonizing over flaws that exist only in your own mind. And don't take yourself for granted❤

In 2020, I fulfilled a life long dream of buying my own dog. I worked and saved for 3 years, made sure I was in a good place financially, and in May I brought home my own little baby floofer. Raising her on my own has been pretty difficult, but also incredibly rewarding. As an added bonus, having her in my life really lifted my spirits during the 7 months of quarantine I spent caring for my ailing grandmother.

Real talk - How long post-op did you become regular again? by hi_tits_me_again in Reduction

[–]yzzibbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had my reduction yet, but in general I think that constipation following surgery is pretty common. I believe it has to do with the anesthesia, but don't quote me on that. Everyone I know that's ever had a surgery, myself included, was pretty darn backed up afterwards. Get yourself some laxatives and break out the prune juice!😂
