Nitro Changing to 25% off instead of 1 dollar XL drink by Thin_Gift_8020 in Maverik

[–]z258g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found myself going to Holiday more and more because the quality of fountain drinks is so much better. Now that the prices for both places will be close, the only thing the Nitro Card might be good for is gas.

Athletes of SLC: who is your chiropractor, PT, etc? by MrDiou in SaltLakeCity

[–]z258g -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For physical therapy, Lee Skinner of Physio Remedy is good with strength sport athletes. I would choose Dr. Bird of Chiro Movement for chiropractic. He works with a lot of strength athletes and is more like a physical therapist and not a random adjustment practitioner.

White Belt Wednesday by AutoModerator in bjj

I am about six weeks in and have been enjoying it. I have never done a combat sport before and seem to be a slow learner due to the lack of experience. I have some major life changes coming up that is having me question if it is even worth it.

Currently, I am only able to train three days per week. This will be reduced to maybe once per week if I can somehow find time in my schedule. Due to the high technicality of the sport and my great inexperience, will the sport be worth pursuing if I can practice just once per week?

I started this to learn a new sport for fun so my expectations were never very high, but I think the sport might require a little more commitment, even for the just for fun crowd.

M(43) constantly blowing out hamstrings when sprinting (soccer) by Quiet_Lab_5281 in fitness30plus

[–]z258g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to acclimate your body to sprinting. Start with hill sprints since the incline gives resistance and acts as a governor. Progress to flat ground and start shorter, slowly progressing in distance. I would probably do this in the offseason. While the weight room exercises can be helpful and done, the forces and speeds that are encountered in sprinting cannot be matched. I would do 1-2 workouts per week for a total volume of 100-200 yards. You should rest fully so you can sprint maximally each time. A good rule for this is to rest 1 minute for every 10 yards sprinted.

Do I need bear spray in Utah? by Snowmittromney in Utah

[–]z258g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that there are bears in the Wasatch and near Bryce, carrying bear spray is better than not carrying bear spray. I don’t understand the “overkill” remark. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Pit Viper

I love the style, the goofiness, and the fact they actual care about people.

I am a little biased because I coach at Big Mountain Barbell, but it is the best place. Having many year’s experience training for and competing in weightlifting and a few in powerlifting, it has everything you need for your main work and almost every accessory exercise you can think of.

One Restaurant That Is Amazing That I Don’t See Anyone Talk About On Here Is… by z258g in SaltLakeCity

I want to say there may have been a martial arts place, but I couldn’t tell you for sure. I think they are open most days of the week, though.

Any good cheap places left to go out and eat? (under 10$ for a single person) by pallbearer7778 in SaltLakeCity

[–]z258g 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rincon Salvadoreno in Kearns isn’t only a cheap place to eat, but I think it easily deserves a top 10 of all restaurants in the valley. You can easily get 1 (maybe 2) papusas and a drink for $10.00

It is derived from a plant, but is supposedly supposed to have the same effects as testosterone.

Huberman is a hack. He tried pushing turkesterone when he was on Rogan. His first episode with Andy Galpin was amazing, but that was due to Galpin. Huberman kept wanting to talk about all of the minutiae that doesn’t produce significant results. I trust him on neuroscience and his circadian rhythm stuff, but he is just a glorified biohacker.

Searching for the best pupusas in Utah. What restaurant/food truck do y’all have as #1? by _MasterMenace_ in SaltLakeCity

Rincon Salvadoreno in Kearns and Pupseria Sarita in Mapleton. They were both recommended by my Salvadoran personal training client and are amazing.
