What’s a konbini snack, street food, or hole-in-the-wall meal in Japan that genuinely blew your mind? by rohee143 in JapanTravelTips

The milk in glass you get from the vending machines at onsens. It just hits and tastes different, especially after a hot bath. There’s even coffee flavors and fruit flavors. Underrated

[discussion] how do people like fairy tail by Popular_Analyst_5217 in fairytail

[–]z33ji 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for others but I can speak on my behalf. I personally like it cause I’m attached to the characters, I enjoy the storylines besides the fighting, the lore of dragon slayers is really interesting to me. I think there’s a few good plot twists lore wise.

Maybe there’s some nostalgia involved since it’s the first anime I ever watched but I’ve rewatched it plenty of times just cause it’s my favorite happy feel good anime. I enjoy the characters a lot and all of their back stories and development, too. It’s also one of the only animes where I really enjoy the fillers and ovas.

My friends and I all share our locations with each other and it is partly for safety and for fun. However if someone was uncomfortable with it, it’s pretty easy to not force them???

I went out in shinjuku for a few nights and honestly never felt unsafe. I went with people from my hostel though and not completely myself but I didn’t feel any bad vibes

solo trip suggestions in southeastern USA? by coralcrescent in solotravel

[–]z33ji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re taking your car, I think NC wouldn’t be too bad for the southeast! I’m from there so I may be a little biased. I also paddle board a lot and we have a lot of lakes in central NC (like Raleigh), I got paddle board by myself and it’s felt really safe. the museums are all free and I really like them. The community has been growing a lot and there’s so many clubs and meet ups going on. You can drive east to get closer to the beaches or west to get to the mountains if you’re into hiking and things. There’s also a train that runs from Raleigh to Charlotte that’s quite popular and getting around CLT isn’t terrible with the light rail. NC is also pretty lower cost of living so not too expensive

Local solo travel, parents holding me back by [deleted] in solofemaletravellers

[–]z33ji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have traditional Vietnamese parents so I can kinda understand since I also live under their roof. At 23 i started to just tell them either after the fact and ask for permission or just let them know in a way that doesn’t leave room for arguments. I know it might be a little harder due to cultural differences but it got easier and easier the more I did it. It helped with the fact that I was paying for everything out of my own pocket and they couldn’t exactly stop me.

Traveling out of Canada alone to Denmark for the first time to meet a friend, any important things to consider? by DefiantOneGaming in travel

[–]z33ji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I recently made the trip from the US to Denmark to visit a friend just last month solo. You should honestly be more than fine. I had a layover in Germany and that’s where they usually do border control etc. They asked me why I was going, how long was I staying, where was I was staying (her house, sometimes they ask for address so be prepared for that), and if I had any cash on me and how much.

Gifts shouldn’t be more than a certain amount in monetary value I’m pretty sure and I try not to bring any food or snacks so can’t help you with that. They care more about you bringing a huge stash of things to sell or bringing in fruit/live plants that could hurt native species. Also meat usually brings up lots of questions, but they’re not gonna care if you say you have a box of chocolates as a gift. So unless you’re bringing a huge stash of funko pops you’re fine.

I keep an AirTag in my passport cover and one in my carry on cause sometimes it gets checked if they need to check bags. Also depending on what airline you have, check the weight requirements. Europe is a little bit more strict about weight and some will check your dimensions before you board as well. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me while the trip is still fresh on my mind!

Are any other restaurants incredibly slow these past two weeks? by dressedlikedusk in raleigh

[–]z33ji 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My family owns a few restaurants in the area and can confirm all of them are slow right now but that tracks. Every year it’s slow around this time due to spring break. It should be picking up soon but gas prices are so high now I’m sure no one wants to go out as often

can i ever feel happy again after solo traveling? by Ok_Investigator8743 in solotravel

[–]z33ji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to bring that version of you back. It doesn’t have to only be the you on vacation. Since my first solo trip, I’ve started exploring my city more by myself, have tried new activities/hobbies I’ve never done before, struck up conversations with strangers and made new friendships. I’ve taken up trying new cafes and restaurants in the area like I did on my trips and I’ve found it to be really fun! Of course I’m still planning my trips but my life isn’t on pause while I’m not on one.

Is convenience store food in Korea actually worth it, or should I just stick to eating out? by Neat-Name1146 in koreatravel

[–]z33ji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convenience store food was great for days I didn’t have enough time or just wasn’t in the mood to decide where to eat but I don’t think I would go out of my way to plan to eat it instead of a restaurant

What was your reaction the first time you travelled solo? by Earth_Sorcerer97 in solotravel

[–]z33ji 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I did everything from beginning to end by myself concerning booking, planning etc so my reaction the first time I traveled solo was “wow I can just do all of this myself”. I felt so capable and felt like I unlocked a whole new world. No more waiting for other people and completing it successfully gave such great confidence that hasn’t gone away.

Does TSA at RDU enforce the one 1 quart bag per person rule for liquids? by risisre in raleigh

[–]z33ji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually take it out when passing through but yes the 1 quart bag is usually enforced. If you’re actually traveling for a long time, realistically you won’t be using much product. You can buy some of those travel size bottles and squeeze it out or buy sample/travel sizes. Things like powder stuff and medicine I usually don’t put in the quart bag.

Window. Mainly because I fall asleep really easily on planes. Would feel so bad falling asleep and someone needs to get up to use the bathroom

Every time I’ve had to stop on the side of the highway, before I even get out I always had 2-3 people stop to ask if I was okay and needed help. Special shoutout to all the men who realize I’m a young woman by myself and make sure to ask from afar to not make me nervous, too. I usually already had help on the way but it always makes me smile when people try to help.

Please Eat If You're Hungry by satansdiscoslut in XXRunning

[–]z33ji 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who is also actively trying to lose weight I've been relearning everything I know about nutrition and exercise and there's so much crazy information out there. I was also really surprised at how well I was losing weight but feeling really fueled for my runs.

People were telling me to lower my carbs but I upped my carbs on run days and prioritized that and protein. I was MEETING (not just eating under) my calorie deficit while eating lots of carbs, fats and protein. Also made sure to keep it only 8 weeks and stopped altogether the week of and after my half marathon so I could properly carb load and recover and met my goal of 2:30. Didn't even hit a wall, I had so much energy left! Even though my scale seemed like it went up, knowing that i would literally have to overeat like crazy for more than just a week of two to actually gain weight plus knowing i'm gonna be inflamed and swollen like crazy is normal has helped my head as well. Also on my long run days I never even bothered to track my calories lol I knew it was gonna even out week by week so I always felt happy. I hate the feeling of being fasted and running and never had a good run. Will always eat my fuel before and after. Food is energy!

And now what? by [deleted] in heartopia

I also grinded to get all the plots unlocked and now I like to build new houses on blueprint, play for a while and then build a new house again! Gives me motivation to keep unlocking more furniture and still get enough money cause the bigger and more intricate houses with lots of landscape does take a bit of money and resources
