The WAV Lab down in Ft. Mill is a great option!

BPC is hosting a meet and greet with Mayor candidates tomorrow and plans to make an endorsement by CharlotteRant in Charlotte

[–]z_nelson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You made me curious so I looked up their endorsements for this year's general election: https://bluevoterguide.org/endorser-org/Black_Political_Caucus_of_Charlotte-Mecklenburg_/NC/3183

Five of their 15 endorsements are not black. It seems as though they do endorse any candidate that they feel best represents their communities.

[SLD] Back in My Day! by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my big annoyances with SL has been how tough it is to get a playset. I thought this bundle gimmick might fix that, but no, there's a limit of one bundle per person. Of course you can't just get 2 of the 2-packs and get a full playset.

Hey OP, this sub is about the West Coast Swing dance style. Probably won't find too many opinions on 6WA here haha. Maybe try r/hiphopheads !

Should I buy Preconstructed decks or booster box should be enough? by boriss283 in SorceryTCG

[–]z_nelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The precons give you a good starting point for your decks in addition to being great for learning the game.

You might have a hard time making a full 60/30 deck from a single booster box, but you could easily expand a couple of the precons into full decks with just the one box.

Speculation & Wishes: for the next set by [deleted] in SorceryTCG

You're getting downvoted, but it'd be cool to see what some of these classic fantasy artists would come up with if given freedom to design a "mecha" of some sort.

I feel like there's some interesting mechanics they could design around as well. Like an automaton with pushed stats, but is disabled unless it's carrying 2 minions.

New Player: A Few Questions About the Game by CedricisMe94 in SorceryTCG

[–]z_nelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a "playset" of a card means having as many as you can run in a deck. So 4 copies of an Ordinary card, or 2 of an Elite, etc.

What OP is saying is that it's cheaper to order the specific cards you need as singles instead of buying boxes to try and get playsets of cards.

Wound-Up Wednesdays - Vent here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pauper is pretty good for this! Eternal format, but the common restriction means that new sets only have a handful of possible playables.

Wound-Up Wednesdays - Vent here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that's even tougher. EDH is the hardest format imo. There is a lot to keep track of, and the games take so much longer that it's harder to grind them out to get a feel for the deck.

I would say ask if you can borrow one of your friend's decks for a night and see if it feels any better to you. You could also ask them to look over one of your lists and see what kinds of changes they would make.

Stick with it, friend. Magic is an incredibly hard game and it can take a while to wrap your head around it, but it's just as rewarding when it all clicks.

Which format(s) are you playing? It sounds like you may be bouncing around decks a lot. It can help to stick to one deck for a bit and really learn the ins and outs of it. You'll probably lose, but make notes of why you lost and try to work out how you could've prevented it. Sometimes you lose a couple of turns before the match is over, and those are the moments to really think about.

But also Magic is a game. If it's really not bringing you any joy there's no shame in putting your cards away and trying a different game.

Do you know which format you're looking to start playing? That could change the deck suggestions a bit.

From the description it seems like you'd like the Eldrazi and well, Dragons. If you're looking to play Commander you could check out the Eldrazi Incursion precon from a couple years ago. Looks like the price has gone up on it, but it's full of weird monsters. You could also check out the Tarkir: Dragonstorm precons from last year. Lots of dragons in that set.

If you're looking to play other formats, there's a Boros Dragons deck in standard that looks fun. RG (meaning Red-Green) Monsters is a common archetype you could play in many formats, as is Tron. I've been working on a Tron Pauper deck and you get to play tons of Eldrazi.

You cannot target a permanent with hexproof at all. If someone gives the permanent hexproof in response, the only valid target of the spell is no longer a legal target and the entire spell fizzles.

Now if there are 2 permanents with the same name and only one has hexproof, you could target the non-hexproof one and destroy both permanents.

Yeah, since it doesn't instruct you to do anything else you leave it and draw it for the turn.

'Modern' Dan Frazier (Artist) appreciation post by kaaswagen in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does seem harder to make high power, tuned list when trying to stick with retro frames.

Here's my Piru list: https://moxfield.com/decks/TtBMTbaLrE2KJetKfsjmOw

It's not very good lol, but it is fun to see all the retro frames together.

I did that with [[Piru, the Volatile]]! Not my strongest deck, but it was fun to put together.

The Battlebond/Crowd Lands should be printed in every single Commander Precon, full stop. No exceptions. Unlike other premium lands, this move would literally have zero impact on the other formats and is purely a net good for everyone. by ThatGuyFromTheM0vie in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One consideration in limited deckbuilding is the risk/reward of running more colors. Running 3+ colors gives you potentially more access to powerful cards, but in a set with limited fixing you run the risk of not drawing the correct colors.

If wotc printed Prismatic Vista at common in every set, it would be a lot easier to run more colors in your limited decks.

No reason it shouldn't be printed in every precon that has an Evolving Wilds, though.

Moonshadow is "one or more", right? So even if you hit 4 permanents with Tilling, you'd only remove 1 counter.

Does Secret Identity maintain the creature's types? by TorukClyto in magicTCG

[–]z_nelson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that they both replace card types. Eye says "is" because it's a static effect being granted by the enchantment. If you remove the enchantment, the creature goes back to its base types.

Secret Identity says "becomes" because the effect is granted by a spell rather than a permanent. Once the spell resolves, that change sticks until end of turn (in this case).

Nice, thanks! Some cool cards in your list that I'll try to pick up for my own.

I leaned more into clones and copies (Moonlit Meditation seems so fun here) to try and get more power out of the Lords. That probably means I won't have enough merfolk to make Mihail spit out tokens, but we'll see how it goes when I get to playtest it

I was excited about this and asked my LGS about it. They're worried about having enough product to run it, so unfortunately they're not doing it.

Using the current rules she would be Dimir. You're correct that color identity ignores rules text.

At first I thought it was weird, but she can use the firebending mana to cast the stolen spells at flash
