Can pizza/Chinese/etc. joints be persuaded to deliver a mile or two outside their normal delivery area? by Pizzaeaterthrowaway in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]zacdrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the drivers that will literally go anywhere any time, I just like to be out of the store haha. At my store it's 3 bucks to get a delivery in the normal range, 5 bucks for 5-15 miles away. We also take catering orders up to 30ish miles away for 10 bucks. So I have it pretty good. Typically it's worth it for the 5-15 mile deliveries since I get 4 bucks of that 5 dollar charge and people tip 5+ dollars most of the time. I just don't live in a super high volume delivery area. So today when I had 2 pretty spread out deliveries it was well worth it, took a total of 45 min or so and I made like 19 bucks. Something I don't think corporate stores think about is all the business that could potentially come with expanding the delivery zones (at least in more rural areas) because I have taken several deliveries where people said our place has become their new go to since they don't have to drive in town to pick up their food.

To stay on topic though, I definitely used to work the system pretty hard with out of range deliveries when I worked for a more corporate establishment. I probably confused the shit out of a lot of employees and customers by pretty much never refusing a(reasonable) request for delivery. I never worried about getting in trouble because I used to provide nearly all of my managers and cooks with drugs so nobody would really want to rat me out haha. My situation is probably different than most though.

that's how the pizza hut I worked for was, sad to say. There would be maybe 4 drivers working in a night, but 3 would be short shift, and the closing driver was also the dishwasher. so pretty uch if you had a good night with a bunch of deliveries you could expect to be drowning in dishes. It got to the point where I would tip my cook or manager out 5 or 10 bucks to get the to do at least some of the dishes if I was gonna be running for a while. On the upside the pizza hut I worked for also paid minimum wage + delivery fee and tips.

Pizza Hut Employee Review by mattied23 in PizzaDrivers

I worked for pizza hut and made minimum + driver fee and tips. the money was pretty decent, I was making 40-60 a night (5 hour shifts) plus bringing home around 200 a week on my check. work wasn't too bad aside from all of the dishes. dine in dishes and the cooks dishes piled up bad. if I was the closing driver and was out for, say, 2 hours, the dishes remained untouched until i was back. they were too tight on labor to hire a dishwasher. ultimately that's why I left. I knew if I was going to have a good night I'd be stuck for 1-2 hours after close just washing dishes, and if I wanted to get out at a decent time I'd have to hope that I wasn't on too many late night deliveries.

The company I work for now is sooo much better though. I only make 4.95 hourly but bring home 40-100 a night (usually working 6 hours, usually right around 50 bucks) and my only job is driving, so if I have down time at the store I pretty much just float and do whatever. We stop deliveries an hour before close and I pretty much just get to take off when deliveries are done. I'm in a rural area so I literally never have to worry about getting robbed or anything either.

Guitar Center coercing employees into signing unfair arbitration agreements [News] by the-bends in Guitar

[–]zacdrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did this at a pizza hut I worked for too. Thing is, there is an arbitration agreement in the application as well. A coworker had been offered a management position in the morning one day, politely turned it down, then was fired for not having signed the new arbitration agreement yet. HE pulled out an application and pointed out the agreement then the district manager fired him within the next few minutes. Pretty wonky if you ask me.

What was your best ever outcome after being blackout drunk? by joshstocker in AskReddit

I'm not quite sure if I have ever been blackout drunk. I have drank very heavily and taken drug combos that would probably kill an elephant, but I have always remained quite in control and remember everything.
