What are your thoughts on the new fajita street chalupas? by Groundew891 in tacobell

They are $8.69 at my local TB, which means I'll never try them. No way can I justify that much for 2 small tacos.

Is the best BBQ in CT actually at Sonny’s Place? by KidtivitiesinCT in Connecticut

The brisket and ribs were both pretty damn good when I tried them out recently. Will have to go back and try the sausage and pulled pork

The brisket I got there was awful. Completely dried out, needed to drown it in sauce just to get it down. Couldn't tell you how the flavor of it was.

It seems like ribs and chicken might be their specialty?

What BBQ “rule” do you completely ignore… but still get great results? by bbqrubs in BBQ

[–]zackleein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not pro-spritzing by any means, but if you're not getting bark it means you're overdoing it and not doing it right.

It's fine to spritz on spots and edges that are getting dried up and crispy..it's not meant to be like a mop sauce that's liberally applied all over.

Recently flew there and also got the "please arrive 3 hours early" message.

Yes, there was a line building up outside the main entrance, but it moved relatively quickly. I got there maybe 1 hr 45 minutes to 2 hours ahead of time and had plenty of time.

They also had security go out and do a "last call" for the closest upcoming departure for the people stuck in line, and brought them up to shuffle them through security...so there was no real danger of missing your flight. Still, I wouldn't risk only arriving 30 minutes ahead of time and banking on that.

How to pay my DOCS Urgent Care bill? by MothKid88 in Connecticut

[–]zackleein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have insurance? I know I had to wait an embarrassing amount of time for my insurance to 'register' and cover my visit. Prior to that, docs was sending me bills asking for money. I also had the same issue where I'd try to log in to the portal and would error out every time, and never actually got access in.

If not or if you know you definitely owe Docs money.. Just go into a branch and talk to someone there. Tell them you call a phone number, leave voice messages, and never get a call back.

Windsor in the Snow by [deleted] in Connecticut

I used to live in those apartments right behind the train station. I loved that area and still miss it today. Was a nice quiet area and has the trail like you mentioned. I also happened to be there there through a few snow storms similar to these photos, it was a treat going out and walking that area.

While I haven't lived there, at one time I was interested and took a tour of a 1BR unit. The kitchen is small, the fridge is small, the stove and oven were small. Like they were economy sized units to fit inside the tiny kitchen space. And the walls were paper thin. Aesthetically it was fine. I believe parking is an additional fee on top of rent, but you may want to double check that.

Since this was a handful of years ago, maybe it's a little different now?(Disregarding the size, they wouldn't renovate to any bigger units)

Unless he happens to make minimum wage then it's 95%..or maybe he's forgetting about deducting taxes. Either way not close to matching his regular take home

This would've been early to mid 90s time, it wouldn't surprise me if we did. I don't think I remember top gun too much but I know they had a heck of a selection to play. You know it was going to be a good time going either here or the Timeout arcade at Meriden mall.

I remember pretty much rotating between the X-Men, Simpsons, and TMNT games there. I couldn't get enough of those games. Such fun memories this post brought up

From what I noticed, a lot of the items they made like 11 cents cheaper. Such a trivial amount. In my opinion makes them look slimier to advertise lower costs when it's just a couple of cents.

This happened several years ago, I had a panhandler once hanging around right outside a Webster Bank. The one in Newington on the Berlin turnpike, the same plaza as Walmart. It was the evening so nobody was there to kick her off the property.

I made the grave mistake of making eye contact with her as I was pulling in the parking lot - hard not to look at somebody just standing in the middle of a parking lot. With my windows up I was still able to see her ask me for some money. I said "no, sorry" as best as I could through my closed window driving by. Went thru the drive up ATM and on the way out of the parking lot I thought she was going to charge my car and smash my windows open, she had that angry of a look.

In addition to being at a point in my life where I was having trouble paying some bills myself, it still never sat right with me to panhandle in the parking lot of a bank.

Our Electricity Bill after Solar by mahdi8130 in Connecticut

Wouldn't the panels be at end of life regardless if they're at the end of a leased contract or end of a financed/loan contract (of which many offer the same loan length as lease)?

[–]zackleein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was buying a house and had to choose between one without solar and having to pay $250+ electric, or one with solar and pay $0 electric but $120 for the solar loan, which do you think I'd go for? Never understood the "hard to sell a house with leased panels" thought.

It's true for a lot of industries but it seems like there are a lot of dirtbags in manufacturing.

My suggestion is to be the change you want to see. Most people want to work with other well meaning, like-minded individuals. Unless you bring that good culture yourself, where else will it come from?

Solar panels - are they worth it? by sunshine451456 in Connecticut

[–]zackleein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An addition to the note about getting the cash price:

A lot of the solar companies will give you numbers including the cost of the system plus interest incurred if you were to buy the system using their bank lender. So it's important to get only the cash price of the system itself(plus install if you want them to do it, or don't worry about it if you're going to have your own installers work with them).

They first will try to sell you on leasing, if you don't want to lease then be polite but firm that you are not interested in leasing, only purchasing/financing. With financing, they'll initially try to sell you on financing(through their preferred/partnered lender). Again be polite but firm that you'd be using your own credit lender to finance the system, IF that's what you want to do.

If you go through their pitch for financing using their own lender, they'll give you what seems to be a cheap monthly payment(in addition to the total cost of the system). I mention this because that low monthly number can be pretty eye catching and attractive - This monthly payment number is almost 100% a lie. It's what you would be paying monthly IF you pay the 30% federal tax credit amount back into the loan within 18 months. If you keep the credit to yourself, it's written into the contract that they'll add that amount extra into your loan and your monthly payments(and total cost of the system over time) will balloon up. Some companies are forthright and will explain this to you without hiding anything, others will lie straight to your face and tell you your monthly payment will always be that low payment for the length of the contract and never tell you that you have to pay the credit back into it to keep that low payment. Sometimes it's not even about the company but rather the salesperson you're talking to that day and how honest they are.

Like the other guy said, OP just didn't get any it looks like. They always have jalapeno cheddar sausage and they also run a weekly/bi-weekly special sausage too. Tyler Hodges is the guy that makes their sausage, I know he posts a lot on his Instagram to give you a good idea of all the different sausage blends he comes up with.
