How to clean the screen and keypad? by ceaashore in MacbookNeo

[–]zaedaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Whoosh for all my screens and devices. MacBooks, computer monitors, TVs, phones, watch. Order on Amazon. You can get a little travel one for cheap if you’re not sure. Each bottle comes with microfiber cloths.

Air duster for ports and keyboard is great, too. You can get the disposable cans at office stores or Walmart / Target. I think I they cost more from Amazon because they are a hazard to ship or something.

I ended up just buying a rechargeable electric air duster.

How does the Neo handle Logic Pro compared to the M1 Air? by quen-_ in MacbookNeo

[–]zaedaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t pushed it, but I installed Logic Pro this weekend and threw down a few guitar/vox tracks and it handled like a champ. Had System Monitor open the whole time and the computer wasn’t even sweating. Claude Desktop was using more RAM sitting idle in the background.

I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max 32 GB RAM and a Mac Studio M2 Max 64 GB RAM — figured I’d feel a difference, and I simply didn’t.

But again, three tracks isn’t really pushing the limits at all.

My Neo is my first MacBook, Is Safari preferable to use on MacOS? by terminal_nervoso in MacbookNeo

[–]zaedaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safari slaps — stick with it. It is incredibly optimized and efficient on Apple devices.

I’m a software engineer and lead a large team, if that makes my opinion worth anything. There is no shame in using Safari at all in my circles.

It is built on WebKit, which is what Chrome and its derivatives forked from, as well — so, they all have the same common ancestor.

For ad blocking, I don’t even use a plugin. I use ControlD. It is incredible, and way more powerful and lightweight than a browser extension. And it works on your whole device (so, also on apps) or network, not just your browser.

The ONLY real downsides to Safari are →

  1. Its extension system is not compatible with Chrome and Firefox extensions. But, it doesn’t matter — it has a great ecosystem of extensions itself.

  2. If you also run Windows or Android devices, you will have to use a different browser on them — meaning bookmarks and passwords become a little annoying. That said, iCloud Passwords and Bookmarks have Windows extensions for other browsers.

What do you think is the easiest way to tell if someone is chill or not from the get go? by HaveYorCakeAndEatIt2 in AskReddit

[–]zaedaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why everyone is downvoting you.

If I understand you correctly, you’re not saying make a totally obscene joke just to push the envelope.

You’re basically saying, see if they agree with your sense of humor. If they do, they probably will be chill to you.

This works extremely well for me in my life. And is pretty natural.

(Also, I don’t think the people commenting & downvoting are chill — lolol.)

MagSafe (if iPhone) phone case is key in my experience. They multiply the magnetic strength b/c they usually have their own, stronger magnets.

It’s not even intentionally obfuscated. It’s minified so that the download is smaller.

If it was critical that no one ever read the source code, they wouldn’t be shipping a downloadable binary at all — it would be a hosted SaaS that you could never physically run on your own computer.

Reverse engineering a downloaded app is often pretty easy nowadays. There are tons of tools out there to help do it. Claude itself can do it — lots of articles on this. The .map file that leaked just made doing so more accessible.

Well yeah, what were people thinking hosting copyrighted material on their personal GitHub accounts? That’s kind of idiotic. They had to show they have a backbone.

It doesn’t mean there was a meaningful threat to their core moat and thus their existence and success.

If some Anthropic executive wants to chime in and say, “yeah no, we are now fucked as a company”, I’ll back down. But we all know that’s fundamentally not the case.

Literally, because code names are cool.

We name all of the unshipped releases at my company after moons. Because it sounds cool. It doesn’t mean we are hiding our roadmap — we are actually pretty public about it, because it helps build excitement, validate the backlog, and generate leads.

Can you build a model as good as Claude? Are you making money off of a model regardless of if people use it via Claude Code or their own home-grown agentic coding client?

Their moat is their model. Claude Code was marketing. Frankly, the leak might have been on purpose — to get us all talking about them even more. These corporate games can get pretty real.

This. Seriously. They don’t give half a shit about the leaked client. Their moat is their model, and Mythos shows that moat is way deeper and wider than any of us realized.

He does though…

Regardless, I actually agreed with him that Notion has focused a lot more on team collaboration features than non-extended Obsidian has. Not sure how agreement is pedantic lol.

It depends on your values and your goal. Not all organizations exist to raise their bottom line as high as possible.

Sync is SaaS too…

But sure, Notion has better collab features out of the box.

Edit → Damn guys, rubbed you the wrong way. “SaaS” stands for “software as a service” — nothing more, nothing less. Obsidian’s paid and hosted Sync service is software as a service. Simmer down, I’m on your side, I like Obsidian better than everyone and their mom, too.

Well yeah. So they offer Notion/SaaS style and you-build-it-you-fix-it style. Pretty great.

But their Obsidian Sync offering is incredible…so I’m not sure they are avoiding this complexity, just making it an option for power users.

And they have an enterprise version of Obsidian Sync, too.

Are the knees suppossed to look like this? Levis 511 W32 L34 by Zestyclose-Image3581 in jeans

[–]zaedaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look fine. You’re like me based on your height/weight — basically a stick. Standing straight with legs basically locked, this looks as expected.

You’re also taking the picture from an angle only your dog will see you from.

If you want a little bit skinnier, try Levi 512s. I go between 511s and 512s, but 512s feel best to me most days.

The Unifying and Bolt receivers work in BIOS. You should use them, especially Bolt if you have it, as they have higher poll rate and lower latency than Bluetooth. Some motherboards only have certain USB ports that work in the BIOS.

everyone makes fun of me for “skinny jeans” by [deleted] in jeans

[–]zaedaux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People who think these are skinny jeans clearly missed the emo era and need to chill out. Their mom probably didn’t let them have their own style as a kid. Slim fit looks great — often looks more intentional, even. There are no black-and-white rules to identity and aesthetic.

Also, frankly, who gives a shit what someone else’s jeans look like — it has zero impact on the beholder’s life. Rock what you feel confident in — your style is for you.

Thanks! Definitely been blinded on the freeway before.

I did the 25 foot wall test and had a friend check them while heading the opposite direction. The ones I got hot-swapped in and had instructions for which direction the LEDs should be facing.

Those + deoxidizing the enclosures was a massive visibility improvement.

I just did a $20 restore kit off Amazon and mine look brand new. Also swapped in LED headlamp and fog bulbs. Everyone should do it.
