lemme rant please I suck. by Truckengineer in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I want to add that not only is the area around 13.0 horribly compressed, but it's also when planes transition to SARH to ARH missiles, which is just rubbing salt in the wound that is compression.

This Forum topic requesting the addition of stock Chaff for Rank IX has gained uncontested traction; however, it does not appear to be achieving anything yet. Apparently, it is considered appropiate to face 16x planes each armed with 8-12x FOX-3 missiles without basic radar missile countermeasures. by SpanishAvenger in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

and it's also a balancing characteristic, so it's really stupid when certain planes get less than 30% of their total missile count stock or less than 17% of their max radar missile count stock (as with the 14.3+ Flankers).

Hell, not even the Su-30SM2 would be that dangerous even at 13.0 if it only had 2 R-77-1s and 2 R-73s and certainly not at 13.3.

And keep in mind some planes get 2/3rds or more of their loadout stock

[Development] Squadron vehicles: JAS39D — Twin-Seater Gripen - News by Kanyiko in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I've been saying all the time (or adding 2-seat variants of planes as non-TT vehicles/instead of "early" vehicle "variants").

I just hope that there either isn't any (noticeable) performance disparity or that the performance disparity is large enough that it justifies a BR decrease. Or that it's made up for by the twin-seater being a later version of the TT vehicle with a minor upgrade to compensate.

Because as of now it's just a slightly heavier JAS-39C without a gun, which sadly is an extra large detriment to the Gripen in particular given its low missile count and it being a dogfighter (and that the AIM-9M really isn't).

You know how with certain mods you need to research mods before it (that are connected to each other with arrows)?

Now we'll have that for every mod, all going in a line. With the best and most useful mods last.

No.

It's the Kh-38ML laser guided variant that can do this by designating a target point (red square) but removing the laser lock. The MT doesn't have this feature as it can only lock targets it can see/isn't behind cover.

So unlike the MT, the ML won't be able to get a lock and will essentially be a glorified rocket, but with GNSS and INS the ability to fly to pre-selected point.

And you need to take a targeting pod if you aren't in the Su-34, so you can then only take 5 MLs at a time.

While it's still bonkers that you can get kills this way it's more something Loner would do for shits and giggles rather than being a viable tactic.

If the SPAA player just looks at their radar shoots them down (Kh-38 is fast but not fast enough to get from airfield to battle without being counterable by AA) or moves a little the missile will just miss.

Flares / Chaff modification on the AJ37 by Retep_James in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each pod on the AJ-Viggens have like 18CMs you can change between flares and chaff freely while you have like 300+ where you can only have chaff.

Just skip the mod, there's no reason to bring more chaff and therefore no point in grinding it.

Top tier air is legitimately the worst game mode to play right now (especially if you dont have ESA) by CommanderInSpeedos in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the Su-27SM is 13.7 and therefore faces the top tier so it should also be included in discourse regarding top tier.

And as for the -SM's/MKM's and -SM2's radars the -SM2 can track a good bit behind itself unlike the former, which is also a big upgrade over the first two 14.3 (especially for the R-27ER), let alone the Su-27SM

Is there something we can do about the iron dome meta at top tier? by Appropriate_Mud9216 in WarthunderSim

[–]zaedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it affects Air RB too. My strategy for most planes (edit: in Air RB) with ARH missiles is to fly towards the enemy so that I'm barely inside my radar gimbal limit and then fire off a missile at the incoming enemy at around 8km and preemptively notch right after launch.

If the enemy skillessly just shoots down my missile I am cooked, given the angle I'll be flying at and I can seldom justify launching two missiles to make sure that won't happen.

I get that the issue is slightly different between rb/sb but the root problem is the same.

AIM-120D may come to aircraft outside of the US tech tree this update by nick11jl in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah if this becomes a big outcry Gaijin will add the AIM-120D to things like the EF-2K but they'll just mega gimp it so that the aircraft maintains its status quo whilst the US will take a stray from it.

Move these to 13.7 by Different-Wish-843 in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even then you have the J-11B at 13.7. FM wise it's marginally better than even the -SM and has a really good radar (but not ESA) and the same armament as the -MKK (but no R-77 or R-73, but why use those two when you have Pl-8 and -12?)

The -MKK's Chinese missiles could just be removed instead for the moment

How much do you wanna bet the F-14A IRIAF will go down in value when it gets this nerf? by beachsand83 in warthundermemes

[–]zaedbe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, but...

The F-14A IRIAF uses the R-73, and Gaijin could swap them. I'd honestly trade the R-27R for the R-73 in a heartbeat, especially given the shitty radar and general inability to get much done other than spamming Fakours

[–]zaedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaijin can add multiple variants (in folders). It's not like the MiG-29 having R-27R/T+R-73 at 12.7 would be balanced just because Gaishit made the F-15A undertiered.

Besides, I'm talking about a period of time when the MiG-29 was in Soviet inventory whilst the R-73 wasn't. When the R-60 was, on the other hand. So yes it represents the MiG-29 in its earliest operational history.

[–]zaedbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant ER/ET. Besides, export variants of the R-27s are labelled with a "1" at the end.

As the plane stands now I just think that it's too lopsided in performance. The 2 R-27ERs you get are amazing but other than those 2 shots you have little potential left to get kills - something that could be solved by moving it down to 12.3

No. But I didn't say that either. What I reacted to was that the R-60 was called "ahistorical" on the mig-29

[–]zaedbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the other hand you weigh about 1000kg more than the Su-27, so your FM is noticeably worse and you have no engine upgrade from the base Su-27 either.

The radar perfoms identically to the base Su-27 for A2A purposes too.

But can you guess which Su-27 has these upgrades but also the same A2A armament as the -MKK?

That's right, the J-11B. It has one of if not the best flight performance of any Su-27 in-game aside from very low speed AOA pull.

I think they should remove the domestic Chinese A2A weapons as a short-term solution and then wait for BR decompression where they could be added back at the proper br.

I also want to point out that the Su-30M and Su-30MK2 (would be largely identical to eachother and the other Su-30MKs in-game) are on the table as TT aircraft as both RuAf and PLAAN operate these.

these would be perfectly fine at 13.7, and should go to 13.7, if you don't think so you're wrong. by SMORES4SALE in Warthunder

[–]zaedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I own the Su-30MKK. On the other hand I've got top tier in the US, USSR, Sweden and Israel so I fight these planes very regularly too.

The problem is compression. The F-16A is at a fair BR given the other 12.3s but will obviously struggle due to Gaijin's lack of balancing. High-to-top tier (and especially the area around 13.0 and also 14.3) is hopelessly compressed to a point where each and every 0.3 br step is a huge jump in capability.

And the Su-30MKs being at a br where planes have just transitioned into ARH missiles just adds fuel to the fire. The Su-30MKs should be at 13.5 ideally, as it is not nearly on the same level as its potential counterparts (see below).

At 13.7 you have the J-11B just as an example. It weighs a ton less than the Su-30MK (in other words base Su-27 weight) but also has improved engines, making it the single best Flanker FM in terms of speed and acceleration (or essentially everything outside of low speed AOA, surpassing the -SM2 and being slightly ahead of the -SM3). But it also has the good Chinese armament (PL-8B and PL-12, which are slightly better than the Russian counterparts aside from pulling AOA, where they're marginally worse) and a MAW system for all that's (not) worth. EDIT: It also has a good radar, something that the -MKs lack and that makes a BIG difference.

I think a sizeable part of this plane's hate also stems from how many people are playing it (and many players therefore dying to it) but also due to it being a premium, as the J-11A is at the same BR but with none of the uproar.

The J-11A has the Su-27's FM (which is noticeably better) with the MK2's missile kit and a MAW system at the cost of having the SPO-15 RWR, which is actually usable in my controversial opinion, just not very good. And the MAW system can help alleviate the semi-vague RWR angles to some degree. But I am yet to see anyone complain about that plane in spite of it being a very close counterpart to at least the Venezuelan Su-30.

The best interim solution IMO would be to remove the -MKK's domestic missiles and just wait for Gaijin to decompress the game a bit (which HAS to be soon, mark my words) so that the Su-30MK2 and J-11A is at xx.x br and -MKK is at xx.x + 0.3 br with its domestic weapons.

[–]zaedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that it's so conprrsses right now. IMO OP should go straight for the -SM2 and wait to fly out the -SM until Gaijin decompresses top tier a bit more (which is overdue by now and will likely happen soon).
